The owner spent years collecting retro treasures and creating custom pieces, giving House of Sunshine a character you won't find in an ordinary vacation rental.



The experience is as much about enjoying the house as exploring the desert beyond it. Put on a record while dinner comes together, challenge your friends to a backyard game, or retreat to the sunroom with a book. With three individually themed bedrooms, generous outdoor gathering spaces, and room for six guests, this is a place to embrace the fun of being together.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The backyard brings a laid-back desert twist to the home's retro personality. Spend an afternoon playing cornhole, giant Jenga, or ring toss, then claim a hammock when you're ready to slow down. Outdoor dining tables and a gas BBQ make it easy to take meals outside, while the gas fire pit offers a natural gathering place as evening settles over the mountains.



The six-person hot tub is an inviting spot to unwind after exploring Joshua Tree, especially once the desert air cools. For warmer days, the 8-foot cowboy tub offers a refreshing place to cool off while enjoying the open sky.



The cowboy tub is not an in-ground swimming pool and may be unavailable from November through April. Please check with us before your stay if you plan to use it.

The living spaces feel like stepping onto the set of a particularly stylish 1970s film. Bold orange upholstery, sweeping psychedelic patterns, rounded furnishings, and carefully collected vintage pieces create a playful backdrop for spending time together.



Settle onto the sofa for a movie on the Samsung smart TV, put a record on the turntable, or bring out the board games for a little friendly competition. A Bluetooth sound system and a collection of books offer more ways to make yourself at home.



The sunroom provides another inviting space to spread out, whether you're enjoying a quiet afternoon or taking a break from the group's activities. Even the smallest design details reward a closer look, making wandering from room to room part of the fun.

The kitchen keeps the retro theme going with lime-green cabinetry, sunny yellow gingham, colorful dishes, and vintage-inspired details. It's a cheerful space for preparing breakfast before heading out or cooking a relaxed dinner with friends.



You'll find cookware, utensils, spices, olive oil, and the essentials for preparing meals. A drip coffee maker and French press are provided, along with coffee, sugar, creamer, and a selection of teas.



Pull up a stool at the kitchen counter for a casual bite, or take dinner outside to the dining tables, where the gas BBQ makes grilling part of the evening.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Each of the three bedrooms has its own distinctive theme, carrying the home's colorful personality into spaces designed for rest. House of Sunshine accommodates up to six guests across three beds and two bathrooms.



The primary suite is a true flower-power retreat, with vibrant green-and-yellow floral wallpaper, playful globe lighting, and a custom king-size circle bed that takes center stage. A dedicated desk and private ensuite bathroom complete the room.



The second bedroom features a queen-size bed and its own desk, offering a comfortable place to settle in or catch up on a little work. The third bedroom has a double bed and a walk-in closet for additional storage. One of the bedrooms also connects directly to the sunroom.



A second bathroom is located off the hallway and includes a bathtub.



For anyone mixing a little work with their desert getaway, the home offers three desk spaces and Wi-Fi, making it easy to find a spot to focus before getting back to vacation mode.



-Surrounding Area-

Yucca Valley has art galleries, vintage shops and local restaurants, and Joshua Tree National Park brings rock formations, rugged mountains and Joshua trees. From House of Sunshine, Old Town Yucca Valley and La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room make good outings.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



Please note that cabinets in the hallway and the garage are locked and used for supplies.

Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at House of Sunshine is an 8-foot cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. It may be unavailable from November through April; please check with us before your stay if you plan to use it.



-Retro Decor-

Several pieces of retro decor are delicate, so please treat them with care.



-Trash and Recycling-

Trash day is Tuesday. The trash company will bring the cans out and back in.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Street parking is not allowed in this neighborhood. All guests and visitors must park in the driveway only. The city issues large citations to homeowners for any car parked on the street, even briefly, and guests will be responsible for any citations incurred during their stay.

► Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub is serviced Tuesdays and Fridays, approximately between 11am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

Pets are not permitted at this property. Unauthorized pets will result in a $500 fee.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
