”It's a bit of an up-hill trek to this hotel, but totally worth the effort. This historic property sits at the base of the Matterhorn, which we could see from our balcony. It was lovely. The property is very charming, but the staff at the desk was less so. And the beds were quite hard. However, I would still highly recommend this hotel.”

”Hotel Excelsior was a very nice hotel in a very great location in Zermatt. The room was clean and modern the shower was amazing and while a small room it was very comfortable and included a balcony. There was a great view from the balcony and everything was perfect including the breakfast which was a very nice spread a very good clean food.”

”The reception service was EXCELLENT The room was tiny wtth only sky window. However it turned out to be great. We got 2 fans, and since the window was on the shade side, we kept it open, and with the fans i turned out to be one of the best room in the hotel. Outside temperature was over 30, an the hotel got no AC.”

”Gorgeous little hotel, a real gem of a find. We had the best welcome of the week here during our train tour of Switzerland. A warm welcome and even a lovely bar of chocolate when we left. Lovely room with a balcony and just around the corner was the Matterhorn. Very generous breakfast with lots of choice and busy and attentive staff replenishing everything. Would definitely recommend. ”This was a unique hotel in the center of Zermatt that was easily accessible. The room was quaint and nicely laid out. The only problem we had was the smoking area was directly below our window and we could not keep our window open because of the smoke going into our room and the loud talking by the smokers. We asked for a new room and were immediately assisted with sincere apologies. The restaurant inside the hotel was wonderful. We would eat there again if this was a restaurant at home.”
