”Stunning views from restaurant and room across as far as lake Arenal. All the food offerings were fantastic from breakfast to evening meals using home grown and home made items.
Regular supply of wildlife to keep you entertained.
Only slight negative was a reasonably long walk up a steep hill to get to the nearest shops etc but that’s no fault of the hotel. Also be aware there is no A/C in the rooms if you are as lucky as we were with the weather.”

”It is relaxing and beautiful here. We enjoyed the nature trails, walked to town to eat, had amazing breakfasts and beet ice cream! I love the eco friendly touches. We would highly recommend this resort.”

”This hotel was family-friendly and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to book excursions through the hotel and spa services as well. There is an aviary on site with macaws, peacocks and other birds. The is a stable on site as well. We were able to go horseback riding on the beach. There are three restaurant choices in addition to the buffet and snack bar. Reservations need to be made a day in advance in order to have dinner at the steakhouse, sushi restaurant, and Italian...

”Excellent location. Beautiful grounds and pools. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Service and food were excellent. It's a fantastic value for the price. I highly recommend this resort. I will go back there.”

”We stayed 4 nights in Fonda Vela.
Pros: staff, easy to organize activities via reception, restaurant, hotel surroundings and trail. Also close to reserve (15 min walk).
Cons: the rooms were a bit outdated, as if they haven't touched them in 20 years or so? No aircon either, 1st night was very cold in the room. The pool area - the bar was never open, the water was cold and the games (pooltable, fussball etc.) were quite dirty. Also lots of birds nesting in the pool area roof...
But hey, most...

”The room had all the facilities you need, including a spacious kitchen, a bathroom.with a shower and bathtub,, a separate toilet, a washer and dryer, and a balcony.”

”Ingen info om noget da vi ankom. Virkede som om vi var til besvær. Vidste ikke rigtig hvem der var ansat, og hvem der var gæster. Køkkenet vi kunne tilberede vores mad i var beskidt. Madvarer hunde/katte foder og madskåle til dyr stod midt på gulvet i køkkenet Værelse var fint. Blev først gjort rent på 3. dagen da vi bad om det. ”
