”Hadn't read reviews till the night prior to arrival. Wish we had. Room wasn't clean, carpets badly stained, didn't take shoes off. Food / unknown substance all over the picture on the wall. Sealant hanging off and mouldy at base of shower. Poor maintenance regards filling of holes on the desk. The fridge had been removed from its housing and left on the floor. ”Hotel was clean, unfortunately our room was located by the cleaners room so it was pretty noisy early on also lots of noise from other guests early in the morning. ”We have stayed here many times and generally it’s been very good, however on this occasion things were not on song, our first night the room was very noisy as a function was taking place and loud disco music until 1am, please avoid room 106. I did voice my complaint and reception staff moved us to a different room much better nights sleep second night. Reference to room 106, bed not comfortable and very low, bathroom was cold towel rail not heating up and loo seat falls down as won’t stay up....

”Positives - Good location for York; great showers and comfortable bed. Negatives - only breakfast option is continental breakfast served in room, though room facilities to do this minimal. ”We stayed in the Bootham suite, the room was light and airy and had a lovely small balcony to enjoy the sunshine. The four poster bed was very comfy and there was a small seating area to relax in. Breakfast was very good, everything is a la carte and the staff were very attentive. The hotel is in a great location, very easy walking distance into York but also very quiet and peaceful. The Pantry is a really nice touch but it was a shame that there wasn't a fridge in the room to keep drinks cool....
