”This a great place to stay that is in the Victorian era mode. I hope the basic decorum and vibe of the place never changes. It is a throw back to another era and all of the pictures from earlier times in Kolkata and the hotel and news clips are very interesting. ”I really loved the personalised service provided by the owner as it is a family owned hotel and they go above and beyond to make you feel like you're at home. ”Western style hotel with rather good breakfast and a bit worn rooms. Surprisingly not much traffic noise (at least to 4th floor), but some very loud religious prayer calls are totally annoying. ”When my taxi arrived at 3 AM and looked at the hotel exterior, I laughed. It was too funny. But once I got into the hotel and my room, I was cool with everything. Clean, comfortable albeit very small room and bathroom shower system in which the entire room is the shower! Something new for me but I learned quite typical in India.
I was scheduled to stay 3 nights. But instead of moving to another hotel, I stayed 6 nights.
Good hotel if you accept simplicity and great value but do without...
