”From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and friendly, after a 3 and half hour journey we had a lovely roast dinner and a beer which went down very well. We were then shown our room which was perfect, and matched the quaint pub, the bed was comfortable. tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, & water readily available, en-suite with shower and t.v. Breakfast was lovely all fresh and local produce. Final evening we had a lovely meal which coincided with my husbands birthday, the dessert came out...

”The room, separate to and, around the back of the pub was stunning. It was warm and cosy with a controllable radiator for heat. Bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep. No shower, but a lovely bath with a handheld shower head. Perfect place to stay before starting the Thames Path. Food was elevated pub fare, and brekkie was the standard full English.”

”Easy check in, staff were super helpful. Room was a great size, clean and nice and bright. Struggled to get the app to connect to my Expedia booking to control all the mod-cons but it wasn't critical - I could still use the TV remote the old fashioned way! Really enjoyed our stay here as an overnight stop to break up a long journey and would definitely recommend to other travellers!”

The carpet was dusty (or at least not cleaned/vacuum cleaned) since the previous customer, nor was it cleaned between our 2 nights stay. What was much worse; in the room there was a stark moldy smell that did not go off even as we kept the windows from both sides of the room open for 2 full days & nights. ”Very pleasant experience. Clean modern room and helpful staff. Cosy restaurant with good drinks. Breakfast is freshly prepared according to your choise, a bit heavy though. Rooms are located in a separate building near a big road so we heard a little bit of noise from the traffic.”

”In a lovely historic building set within pleasant grounds, especially as the wisteria was in flower. Very helpful staff, lovely room and comfortable bed. The breakfast was perhaps a little disappointing- dry basic with little choice of healthy cereal or cooked food if you are vegetarian. Overall very good though.”

”This was an excellent first stay here. Staff were so lovely, friendly and accomodating. The food was on another level. We are lucky to eat out a lot and this was not the cheapest but i could eat here every week. Just on another level. Go here, you won't be disappointed.”

”Good for a short stay, very basic pub accomodation. Located practically in the middle of nowhere and there's no possibility to go for a walk or a run in the evening. The pub downstairs is good, with reasonably priced food and drinks. Friendly staff. Stayed at the room 12 which at the time of my stay didnd't have any shower! This is unacceptable even temporarily, such room should not be offered at all.”

Rooms are dark, low ceilings, out-updated furniture, etc. All in all, the hotel is good enough, though one may not think of it as a spa like experience, especially when considering that this is one of the attractions/ amenities that they are offering & advertising.”
