”The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. However, the staff at the reception were quite distant, whereas in a boutique hotel, a warmer and more welcoming attitude would be expected. As two female guests, perhaps because we stayed only one night, it felt strange to be given the room right by the entrance/office area.”

”This is a beautifully restored historic home. I can't say enough good things about the property and house and staff. We stayed in the Governor's Suite which was very nice and roomy and big roomy bathroom. I must say there are stairs. You must be able to carry your suitcases up the stairs into the house and into your room. Breakfast was very good. Good choices and good coffee. Many things here are within walking distance and felt very safe. I do suggest the trolley tour as you will see...

”Great place to stay for centralized location. Easy walking to all the tourist activities. Our room was clean and comfortable, also quite large. No elevator but it wasn't an issue. Lovely staff.”

”The property was quaint, had history and was well located to town. Parking was free and convenient. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were clean. Breakfast was diverse and of quality. What I didn't like was the obvious wear. Walls had dings. Wallpaper was torn. Furniture was old and interesting but faded and tired. We still enjoyed our stay and we would stay again.”

”Breakfast was good and fresh each morning. Nice touch for sure. Area is extremely walkable with restaurants nearby. The bed was really comfortable. Shower in the Lark Suite is tricky to figure out but a lot of water pressure. While we were there the hot water in the shower did not work very well. We let them know and hopefully it is fixed by now.”

”I think it did the job but having to pay for valet parking and staying over Memorial Day Weekend pushed it to a price point it didnt really deserve. Location is perfect and the main reason to stay there. Staff was great and facilities are pretty good. We used the gym which was small, but had everything one usually needs. Rooms themselves are tiny (bathroom especially) and that’s coming from a New Yorker. TV was very dated (not a smart TV). If the price point was lower, I’d maybe give it a...

”I liked that it was basically a one bedroom apt. Clean, super convenient to everything. Didn’t live that window in bedroom didn’t open. Light over sink flickered consistently- so we turned it off. It was a little noisy due to location but that wa ok- I bring ear plugs. Staff was great and view from observation deck of sunset amazing !”

”We are very happy to recommend Forty1. Our family of 4, with 2 teenage daughters accommodated nicely in the room of 2 queen size beds, city view. The gas fireplace did not work, though, but it did not play a big role in our stay during the summer hot season in July. Very attentive staff.”

”Great stay in cool room and building in EXCELLENT location in town. Only two concerns were 1) the rooftop area should be smoking-friendly(!) we would have used it at night, and 2) TERRIBLE cleaning effort on 2nd day/night with no change of sheets, unmade bedspreads, no trash removal, incomplete towel set, etc. Enjoyed our stay but left note about the cleaning issue.”
