”View from reception lobby is instant postcard scene - lush garden, pool area, ocean - that makes you pat yourself in the back for a good choice.
Pool area is excellent: main pool with cave & waterfall, infinity pool, slides, hot tubs etc.
Our room (deluxe in building 7) had plenty of tidy comfortable space for four with ocean view from lanai. With a bit of luck you can park right outside.
There are shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Still I'd recommend renting a car to get the...

The grounds of the property extends to face the water and at sunset, you can walk out and witness the magnificence. You can walk to Poipu beach from there and then your relaxation begins.
It is also within walking/ short drive distance to Poipu restaurants, mall and all that Poipu has to offer!
The decor and facility may be a bit dated but it is very well maintained and cleaned. The folks who work there are friendly and courteous.

”Every time I stay here, I always get top notch service. The staff were very attentive and prompt especially during the time when we were on the tsunami watch. They were updating everyone on the current situation and disaster plan. We were fortunate enough that the property stayed on the green zone meaning we were safe.”
”Terrible place. Looks nice, but not worth it. Room bed awful pullout bed. Asked for a blanket and a pillow for a child 10.45 PM. Got it 1.35 am after numerous phonecalls and rude answers. No appology. Not a reply on a customerservice. Went frontdesk, no management personel promised to contact and no contact. Just awful customerservice. ”
”The Hilton Garden Inn Kauai was conveniently located. The property was really well laid out. So close to the beach and swimming. We were able to walk out of our cottage and walk to the beach in five minutes. Very private and quiet. The breakfast wait staff were so friendly.
My only issue was that prior to our arrival I emailed if the Hilton gave any concessions for being kama’aina. I didn’t receive a response. A response would have been welcome.
Overall, a very nice visit.”

"We can't understand how this hotel has a 5 star rating. We travel several weeks a year around the world and I've relied on reviews until now, but...
The main pool is full of screaming children, so if you're an adult without children, it's not for you. The adult pool was small and secluded with no amenities. The only restaurant in the hotel is a bar by the main pool, which honestly can't be called a restaurant. The "Deluxe studios" are in separate 3-story buildings with dingy and untidy hallways. The room and its view were perhaps the biggest disappointment. A worn and untidy room and bathroom. Of course there can be cockroaches in the tropics, but this was the only hotel where we shared a room with them. The ocean view was of someone's backyard, which was basically a dump. $700/night would lead you to expect a good hotel, but that's not the point, it's the end result. We would not choose this hotel at any price, with or without children. Fortunately, there were good restaurants nearby (Eating house 1849, The Merrimans, Red salt) and the hotel shuttle service worked really well."
