”The Gatehouse is amazing and the rooms 5 star. The receptionist was amazing pick us up and drop us off after lovely meal and drinks. Restaurant The restaurant staff were lovely and it was an extremely busy night for them. Starter was selection of cooked meats and wafers on wood board. Had steak with chunky fries and the sauce was amazing. Overall the food was star of the show. The lounge was quiet and classy the bar manager was a class act and great professional presence. ”

”Our room was very unique with its lovely 4 poster bed and lovely free standing bath .Lovely fire place and comfy old chair beside it in our room so cozy..We had a fabulous stay food was exquisite and service was lovely ..Cocktails were delicious. Spar was really special especially the outside garden jacuzzi s and sauna. We both feel rejuvenated.Thankyou for a lovely stay.”

”Property was nice enough, location good and the pub opposite was lovely. The company that run the property though are terrible. Sykes Cottages trying to scam us out of money for property damage that is unreasonable and without evidence. They send a message via their website that has no way of responding to except for Whatsapp. But no one monitors or replies via whatsapp. ”

”The staff were welcoming and accommodated a midnight check-in with no issues. The hotel is warm and inviting with modern amenities and well presented especially with origins from the 15th century!! Excellent friendly service and perfect location, right on a main shopping and dining thoroughfare also within a few mins walk to the train station. Highly recommend! ”

”A lovely stay in the accessible room. Had everything you could want. A delicious breakfast was served in the morning. Very helpful staff allowing us to pick up the key early as we were there for a wedding. Highly recommend The Grove House Hotel”

”Lovely hosts and a very generous cooked breakfast with quality ingredients and big pot of tea plus lots of toast! Room was very spacious and comfortable with a balcony for warmer weather - lovely views to the other side. Decor is somewhat dated and bathroom could do with update but everything scrupulously clean, loads of hot water and everything very comfortable. Could not have asked for more.”

”Looks like it has recently been redecorated, simple and pleasant style. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast items available to help yourself if leaving before official breakfast time. I’ll be staying again ”

”Great Location. Well Equipped. Spacious. Should be noted that the bedroom on the top floor has steep narrow stairs and not suitable for all. Dust in places. Was woken up by noise from the cafe underneath.”

”2nd time I've stayed here and the value for money is second to none. Whilst the rooms are basic, they still have a TV, kettle with tea and coffee and a fan heater should it get too cold. The most important aspect and what drew me back again is that everything is clean. A fresh towel and unopened soap provided, the bedding is crisp and spotless. At the end of the day it's a place to sleep, and that the owner obviously cares for cleanliness is obvious. Very friendly and helpful host. Bargain! ”
