Matkat – Auchencairn

The Portpatrick Hotel never fails to disappoint. The location is wonderful but the hotel itself is poor, poorly maintained and no attention to detail by housekeeping when preparing rooms, with empty soap dispensers in the bathroom. The hotel just seems neglected, badly managed and understaffed by people who have little or no training in hospitality. At best the breakfast was disappointing, the hot food in the buffet was edible, but the presentation and other items sadly lacking.

The room was old and dusty. I did not enjoy my stay at all but gladly visited only for one night.

Chose the pod because it suggested it was an enclosure but was just a cubicle with curtain to pull down, and with 8 people in the room, noise was too much and not muffled. Then you had one cubicle that should have been single but occupied by two people, two other folks snoring loudly all night, one of them did not bother rolling down their blinds so noise travelled all across the room. The air wasn’t been extracted, if at all, so windows full of trapped moisture in the morning. For a property with so much people, the facilities ought to be cleaned more frequently and through the entire day, the conditions were ridiculous. If you’re going to call something a pod, make it a proper enclosure, noise kept out with proper door to the enclosure, not a blind.
