Overall, the Atlantic Eyrie Lodge is a good hotel. The suite was spacious and quite clean. The full-size kitchen allowed us to bring leftovers from home thereby saving us time and money over the super busy July 4th holiday weekend. The location is just a quick 15-minute walk from Bar Harbor and the Island Explorer stops right at the front door. What surprised me is the staff. No one smiles or acknowledges you. I greeted several members and not one smiled or returned the greeting. Even the receptionist failed to greet us when we checked in. She looked at me and proceeded to give me the keys and information about breakfast. Never did she say "Welcome". All the workers come across as being very unhappy to work there.
Do note - the hot breakfast is basic. Cereals are either Corn Chex or Cheerios. Hot items are scrambled egg, bacon (which alternates with sausage), French sticks and potatoes. There is also plain bagels, english muffins and blueberry muffins, coffee, tea, apple, orange and cranberry juice. I was shocked to see no hot oatmeal or even oatmeal packets.
