Excellent service, great breakfast, walk to downtown Bar Harbor.. but..i thought i booked a cottage. However we ended up in the 3rd floor (no elevator) of the main house. The trip up to the room with luggage and in general wasn't pleasant.

There was no heater in the room. The AC was just a cooler. There was no instruction at the time of check in on how I need to access the manager during the night since there was no reception. The night was cold and uncomfortable. Not even a 30 min sleep. Once I finally found the number, which was handwritten on a card in the room, called the manager at 6 am. he acted that there is nothing wrong and brought a portable heater and a blanket. he seems not to know that the AC is just a cooler as it was printed on the remote.

Thank you for staying with us, though we are sorry to hear you didn't thoroughly enjoy your stay. The AC unit you are referring to also does operate as a heater, all of our rooms are equipped with these AC/heat pump units to ensure climate control from room to room. Chris, our innkeeper, lives on property and is happy to help remedy any issues whenever needed and we feel we did everything we could do to make your stay more comfortable, including offering you a late check out to give you more time to rest. We hope that if you stay with us in the future, we are able to provide you with a more enjoyable experience.

A great place to stay in Bar Harbor! A convenient place to stay around the walkable town. Also a convenient location as we hiked around Acadia National Park. The room was clean & beautiful. The entire house & property are well maintained with everything you need. The breakfast & snacks were super tasty! The innkeeper, Chris, was super nice & hospitable. His recommendation to do the sandbar hike over to Bar Island at low tide was fun. He truly made our visit special. Thanks

Our stay at the Sand Bar Cottage was delightful. The space is adorable and the outdoor space with fire pits and individual heat lamps over tables on the covered porch made it cozy even with the cooler weather. Chris was very personable as were all the staff, making excellent recommendations and just overall good conversation. Breakfast was delicious and it was fun to meet and mingle with other guests. The location is great and I would not hesitate to stay here again if we find ourselves back in Bar Harbor.

Very cute property. Don’t skip breakfast it was soooo good. Staff was super kind and helpful. Only con is you can hear everything.. luckily we were so exhausted from hiking all day it didn’t bother us too much and we were easily able to fall back asleep. Would come back for sure.

Really enjoyed my stay. The location is excellent, we were able to take a short walk to dinner each night and it's about 1 block from the sandbar hike. The innkeepers at this property were the real stand out. They helped us pick hikes, gave restaurant recommendations and made us feel well cared for. I even saw them change the tire for two girls staying at the inn after their rental car company no showed. The main inn is beautiful and updated. We stayed in one of the smaller buildings outside the main inn, which seem less recently updated (more quaint than fancy) but offer a more private experience. They have a nice breakfast and set out delicious treats daily.

Cozy and convenient
We had a great stay at the Sand Bar Cottage Inn!! It was very cozy and comfortable. The breakfast and snacks everyday were delicious! We enjoyed sitting for a nice cup of tea every evening. The location was perfect for walking into town, and driving into Acadia. We will definitely be back.

We had a fantastic stay! The location is perfect and walkable. The room was very comfortable and the entire place was clean and beautifully decorated. They have a nice fire pit space outside. The food was outstanding and there were always delicious sweets available. The property manager, Chris, was just lovely to chat with and incredibly accommodating. We will definitely be returning.

Cozy, comfy Maine inn
This is a beautiful little inn right up the street from the heart of Bar Harbor and just a few minutes from the entrance to Acadia. My husband and I slept so well, the bed was wonderfully cozy and comfortable! And they offered a free, yummy morning breakfast. Thank you!

Wunderschöner Inn mit sehr freundlichem Personal! Alles ist Fußläufig erreichbar. Das Zimmer (eigentlich 2, da das Bad so groß ist) ist sauber, freundlich und schön eingerichtet. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut, man kann sich den ganzen Tag Tee, Kaffee, Wasser und Obst holen, nachmittags steht frischer Kuchen auf dem Tisch. Bar Harbour ist definitiv eine Reise wert und das Sand Bar Cottage Inn ist hier eine tolle Wahl!

Perfect stay
Our stay was perfect. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Everything in our room felt brand new. Very clean. So much character. Beautifully decorated. Real art throughout. Gourmet breakfast. We can not wait to get back here. It’s in the perfect location. Walkable to all the restaurants and shopping in bar harbor. Super nice staff. The food was amazing. So much attention to detail.

Wonderful Stay
Our stay at Sand Bar Cottage was memorable and fantastic. The location was perfect, with the ability to walk to all the local restaurants and shopping. The house has great character, and the room was spacious and updated. There was attention to detail on everything from the physical building to the level of service from the staff. An extra special thank you goes to Michelle for recommendations on restaurants and trails to hike, and of course to Chris who is an amazing innkeeper, with great insights into Bar Harbor and plenty of witty banter. Breakfast was delicious and the extra snacks were a nice touch. The grounds are well maintained and there is a firepit which made for great socializing in the evenings. Overall excellent experience and we would stay here anytime we are in Bar Harbor.

The Sandbar Cottage Inn is absolutely amazing!! We have 4 rooms here and each one of them is spacious, well appointed, and feels luxurious!! We are so lucky to have gotten a reservation here!! Chris is an amazing host and we are definitely coming back here on our next stay!!!!!

Staff went out of their way to be helpful with recommendations. Oh and they even upgraded us to a bigger room for free just because they had the room. We didn't even ask for this! Super nice!

The proprietor and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the Acadia cottage...the room was huge with a sitting area and a large bathroom. It also had a front porch we used everyday of our stay. The highlight was the breakfast and afternoon snack. I wish I had asked the chef for his recipes. We felt very taken care of. The location is awesome too. It is walkable to all of Bar Harbor and a short drive to Acadia. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Das Guesthouse wird liebevoll geführt und gut gepflegt. Unser Zimmer war alt, jedoch in gutem Zustand. Das Bett war bequem und die Lacken sehr angenehm. Jedoch war es im Zimmer sehr kalt und wir konnten dieses nicht richtig wärmen. Auch war es extrem ringhörig. Wir durften den Ton des TV Programm des Nachbarn bis 23.00 Uhr mithören. Die Infrastruktur ist aber wirklich schon sehr alt. Das Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis passt daher nicht.

Thank you for staying with us, though we are sorry to see you didn't thoroughly enjoy your stay. Yes, this is a historic bed and breakfast, however, we have updated everything and our guests generally have very positive feedback on that building. We would have been happy to help set the right temperature for you had we known their was an issue. We hope that if you stay with us in the future, we would be able to provide you with a more enjoyable experience.
