”Clean room, comfy bed and a good shower. Hallways could have done with a quick vac. Missed second day breakfast but still enough left.”

”The property exceeded my expectation. It's really cozy and I absolutely enjoyed the bowl of goodies. Could do with more utensils, but overall, I'd highly recommend.”

”The Duke of Edinburgh hotel was a gem. I don’t know the history of the building but it’s older; that doesn't mean bad. They have done a great job of renovating the rooms, or at least ours was. It was one of the best rooms we’ve had on our trip. We also had dinner and a breakfast while there and the food at the restaurant/pub was excellent. It’s a short walk from the train station and I would recommend it for your stay.”

”The host cancelled my booking the day before I was due to book in because I use a walking stick and the room was on the middle floor. When I made the booking there was no mention on the booking page about about difficulties I may have. The reason given was not enough room on the expedia page. I was also refused a refund, which I find very disappointing as it was the host who cancelled my booking, not myself. Very disappointed allround.”

”I don’t think I’ve ever had an en-suite where the cold water in the sink came out warm and the water in the shower ran cold no matter which way you turned the tap.”

”What a perfect place to stay. Room was large and comfortable. Emiko was a lovey host full of great suggestions on what to do locally. Breakfast was very tasty but the real added extra was the on site bar with what seemed like 100s of different whiskeys which Emiko was very knowledgable on and happy to help you find one to enjoy. We will be back. ”

”Loved this place, a little out of Cartmel but liked that, pleasant evening stroll into town, great view across the racecourse, well looked after hotel, plenty of parking Points to improve could do with some car chargers but thats a minor point, will be back”

”Good property Ideal location Fabulous garden Pity other guests flick cig stumps about Been before def go again”

”Nice accommodation in a quiet location”

”Room was tired and bed uncomfortable. Car park had no lighting which made it difficult to navigate in the dark.”

”The hotel was great but getting taxis when there is a large retreat at the Budist temple can be challenging”
