Nestled away overlooking the Suffolk countryside in the village of Henham, Mandalore is a tastefully converted barn with high-spec interiors. Sleeping up to seven guests in three well-appointed bedrooms with three modern bathrooms, this rural retreat is ideal for a family get together or a holiday with friends.

Mandalore offers spacious, light and airy accommodation split over two floors with a spectacular open-plan living space and a private balcony where you can soak up the sun and while away the time watching deer, hares and pheasants in the fields. The contemporary kitchen is well-equipped, including a Gaggie Brera coffee machine so you can start your day with a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and a sit-up island so you can enjoy a glass of wine or two whilst keeping your fellow guest who is the designated chef company. The dining area features a large dining table and benches which can be swapped for chairs if you prefer. Interestingly, the big kids will be pleased to discover that the dining table transforms into a pool table. At the end of a long day of exploring, nothing beats relaxing on the super-sized corner sofa with a blockbuster movie or a good book. The ground floor also boasts a utility room with separate entrance making it ideal for furry friends with mucky paws; a den with sofa and further television; and a stunning wet-room.

Upstairs, you will find three well-appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom is generously sized and features a luxurious, king-size bed with views of the balcony and fields beyond, and its own en-suite shower room. The balcony offers a wonderful spot to enjoy the sunset with a tipple of your choice or simply sit and admire the sounds of nature. The second bedroom with king-size bed feels bright and cheerful and shares the family bathroom with bedroom two which has a single bed and a set of bunk beds. The family bathroom boasts both a large shower cubicle and a separate bath.

Leading out through bi-folding doors is a sheltered patio area with far reaching views of the surrounding fields. There is parking for two cars and an electric car charging point. The village of Henham is home to the privately owned Henham Park estate which plays host to several events throughout the year including the popular Latitude Festival.

One well-behaved dog welcome (small additional charge). The garden is unfenced - dogs must be supervised at all times.
Travel cot available on request (please bring your own bed linen).

  • In an area as steeped in history as the Suffolk Coast, it takes something special to stand out. Dunwich manages to do just this. Known as the lost city of England, this tiny village certainly has a story to tell. Dating back to Anglo-Saxon times, Dunwich once stood proud as the capital of the Kingdom of the Eastern Angles, at its mightiest matching 14th century London for size. It was a seat of power for the Anglo-Saxon bishops for centuries, an international port, and the Domesday book of 1086 puts the population at over 3000. The little village of Dunwich was once a thriving seaport; but over the centuries the sea reclaimed the town leaving not much behind except for a wonderful stretch of beach. This expanse of shingle seems to go on forever in both directions, backed by low crumbling cliffs. Dunwich beach is set in a break between the cliffs where the road literally ends on the beach. Here you will find a number of small boats pulled up on the sand and a the National Trust tearoom. In fact, the National Trust own the beach and much of the surrounding countryside including Dunwich Heath which runs along the coast. This whole area is teeming with wildlife which thrive in these rare habitats. Just a short drive from Dunwich you will find RSPB Minsmere. Here you can spend a day spotting some the UKs rarest birds and wildlife including the Avocet, Bittern, Otter and Red Deer. HOW TO GET TO DUNWICH - PUBLIC TRANSPORT By Train: Darsham is approximately six miles away with train services by Abellio Great Anglia running to Lowestoft and Ipswich and on-going connections to London Liverpool Street and Cambridge. All train tickets can be purchased via the Abellio Greater Anglia Website or the app. HOW TO GET TO DUNWICH - BY CAR From Norwich -Take the A146 to Beccles, followed by the A145 From Ipswich - Dunwich is signposted from the A12 – approximately 24 miles north of Ipswich. From Lowestoft - Follow the A12 to Ipswich. At Blythburgh follow the B1125 and signposts to Dunwich. From London - Follow the A12 towards Ipswich, then Lowestoft before taking the B1125 at Blythburgh and signposts to Dunwich. Great big and well equipped apartment

The apartment is very large, very clean, well equipped and therefore offers a very good relaxation factor. Our kids loved the pool table and huge screen TV. The beautiful nature conveys a lot of peace - for us, however, too much nature insofar as a crow robbed us of our last nerves... every morning at 4:30 a.m. pecked at the patio door and car and we couldn't think of going back to sleep. Of course, we don't want to blame the hosts for this. It's a shame, because the apartment really has everything you need to feel comfortable.
