Serious Concern – Possible Scam Between Hotel Doctor and Hospital
During our stay at Spice Hotel, my wife had mild stomach pain, so we visited the hotel’s doctor. Shockingly, he didn’t examine her at all. He simply said she needed to go to a hospital and called a vehicle, which turned out to be a bus picking up people from other hotels before finally reaching a nearby hospital “Anatolia hospital”.
At the hospital, we were told to pay €450 upfront before a doctor could see her: €200 for the hotel doctor (who did nothing), €180 for the hospital doctor, and €70 for transport. This immediately felt like a coordinated scam. We refused further treatment, paid only €150 for the so-called hotel doctor and €35 for transport, then went to a local pharmacy. The pharmacist examined her properly, said it was a simple issue, and prescribed medicine costing just €3—she recovered completely.
This experience was extremely disappointing and raises serious doubts about the honesty of the hotel’s medical service. I strongly suspect a partnership between the hotel’s doctor and the hospital to overcharge guests. Travelers should avoid the hotel’s doctor and seek medical help directly from a real clinic or pharmacy.
There are many more details about this incident that I cannot include here due to character limitations, but I truly hope the hotel management investigates this unethical practice.
