Further afield, the charming harbour town of Bideford and pretty Appledore (both 3 miles), along with Instow (5 miles) are all packed with independent shops and eateries. Boat trips leave regularly from Bideford’s historic working harbour – if the timings are right, you could spend the day on Lundy, known for its seasonal puffins.
