”We had a pleasant stay at the Yachiyo ryokan that gave the taste of Japanese accomodation characteristics. Service was fairly smooth and the whole place was really tidy although maybe slightly outdated. The location was not super central but on the other hand it provided easy access to the Path of Philosophy, some temples and museum of modern art which btw had an exquisite Katagami exhibition at the time (recommend). Food was not included on our ryokan package so cannot comment on that.”
”This was listed as adults only which I interpreted as no kids. I booked 7 nights and included the $2/day in-breakfast. It soon became clear this small and nice hotel was suitable for couples as well with not only daily rates but partial day rates; this apparently is fairly common in Japan with the "adults only" tag.
The staff was not well versed in English, but all communications were successful. The staff was very kind and accommodating too. The room was very nice, comfortable, and well...

”They gave me a late checkout (2 hours extension) for no additional charge. Staff tried to talk in English with me, and was very helpful. Breakfast was amazing also, and very cheap! The room is very spacious. Some things seem a bit old, and the red light in the bathroom did not work. But it was a nice stay, would probably do it again in the future!”

”This property is very close to Kodai-ji, which was very convenient. Also, the host washed, dried, and folded our laundry (a family of 5) while we were out seeing the sites. This was incredibly helpful. Another highlight of our stay was the wonderful welcome tea and tasty breakfast provided during our stay. Although it was a bit more expensive than other options, these benefits were well worth the additional cost.”

"The hotel is located nicely in the middle of a shopping area and not too far from 2 different subway lines. Only downside with the location is that a taxi cant really get right infront of the hotel but it's not a long walk (3 minutes) from the closest drop off location.
Checking in and out is easy and quick with the self service desks and there is staff to help if you require assistance.
Didnt have much interraction with the staff except for one at reception and the cleaning staff of the floor and all were very friendly.
Only downside (for me) was how hard the bed was but that's a preference thing.
With all that said unless the hotel prices itself out it will stay on my radar for when I come to Kyoto again (6 days is not enough!)."
"Parasta hotellissa oli sen "kylpyläosasto" eli Onsen.
Onsen oli monipuolisin ja laadukkain koko matkallamme ja selittää varmasti sen miksi hotellilla on huippu arvostelut.
Hotellin siivoustaso jättää hieman toivomisen varaa, mutta yleisesti ottaen paikka on riittävän siisti. Lisäksi sängyt olivat omaan makuuni epämukavia ja tyyny lähes hyödytön. Joten aivan 10/10 kokemusta paikka ei tarjonnut.
Paikka tarjoaa ehkä vähän koomisen paljon kaikkea pientä kivaa asiakkailleen. Löytyy ilmaista jäätelöä, teetä ja kahvia sekä iltapalaksi ilmainen ramen. Hieman erikoinen toimintamalli, mutta piristi matkaa."
