On the far side of the burrows, you’ll reach Saunton Sands (3 miles), the area’s much-loved local beach. This idyllic 3-mile stretch of golden sand and sparkling sea is ideal for sunny days and offers some of the county’s very best surfing conditions. If surfing isn’t your bag, lace up your walking boots or hop on your bike to explore the Tarka Trail, a winding 180-mile, traffic-free route that showcases Devon’s stunning coast and countryside, leading from Braunton to Barnstaple (5.5 miles) or Instow (11 miles).
