”Loved quirky old hotel. Good rooms, right in the heart of Saffron Walden. The food was excellent and the service from Jim and Luka was exceptional. Looking forward to returning. ”

”Not great for the money, spend another 20 quid and get a better room somewhere else. 1 towel No shampoo or soap and no heat as it was shut off. Breakfast was a few biscuits, a wrapped croissant and a couple of boxes of cereal, meh at best. ”

”I stayed here one night before an early flight from stanstead. The hotel is conveniently located about 5 min drive to the airport. The chap at front desk was friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were both clean as was the shower. The room had tea making facilities and a hair dryer. The bed was not so good very bumpy, you could feel the springs, and parking is not free as stated I was charged £6. 50. Overall ok for a one night stay. ”

”Booked the comfort triple room with private bathroom, on arrival we were shown to a twin room and a single room, without private bathroom. When we quieried this the barman said they don’t have triple rooms with private bathrooms so I showed him the booking I made along with this room still being advertised. He went away and returned stating he could not do anything as the manager wasn’t available, therefore, we had no option but to stay in rooms we had not booked. Shared kitchen was dismal, one...

”There was nobody at the location. We knocked on the door and waited for 5 minutes in minus temperatures. We had to book alternative accommodation. I wrote to the owners but have heard nothinh. I wote”

”Excellent location for visiting IWM Duxford and only 10 minutes on the train to Cambridge. Janet and Simon couldn't have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were really good with options for all tastes. Would stay again without hesitation.”

”Super welcoming staff - really made a difference. This is a great place to stay if you’re flying to/from Stansted as it’s a far pleasant experience than the airport hotels. It was so lovely that I’d book a weekend break there to explore the local area more.”
