We chose a family room because we needed two beds but the condition of the room was terrible. The state of decoration was terrible and the luggage rack was non useable because it was hanging off the wall. There was no toilet roll holder, just the bracket on the wall, so the toilet roll was on the floor. Senior management of Greene King should try staying in their hotels and ask themselves if they would personally pay £135 to stay in that room.

Needed to be near Clifton and City centre so this ticked both boxes. The hotel/pub was comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was replenished daily .Check in/out was easy and the staff were friendly and efficient. I was able to walk to Clifton village and Bristol city centre..As a female solo traveller I felt safe and would definitely use again

We stayed here as 2 families: 3 adults and 4 children. The family rooms were spacious and equipped with comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent value and very tasty. The building itself needs a little TLC, but that didn’t lessen our experience. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. They helped us with looking after our bags and transport queries. They were even patient with our excited children. The location is nice and quiet. It is in a pub so there’s bound to be some noise at closing time, but that’s to be expected. There are several buses available nearby and it’s only a short walk to the suspension bridge & play park. We would definitely stay here again.

Renovation needed
This was the 2nd time we had stayed at Channings, it suited our needs perfectly as family live close by.My criticism is with regard to the general state of the decor in our room,(22). It was tired and in parts rather shabby. I am certain that there is a programme for renovation but I believe there needs to be a sense of urgency with this. Our room was cleaned well and the water fabulously hot, for which I thank you.Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

a good cheap hotel in Clifton. no frills but a good clean bed to get your head down at the end of the night.

Dated and run down but didn't spoil our stay
The room was large and comfy but very very old and aged. Not sure anything but a lock of paint has been done to the rooms for 20 years plus! It didn't spoil our stay and I liked that the room was large, but have low expectations about the room! Walls also paper thin but quiet location on a Sunday night.

Awful Room not good even for the price!
Stayed for one night only with my partner & son. The carpet was dirty & stained to the point I wouldn’t walk on it without any shoes on, the bed stand was stained & dirty, bed linen clean. Ceiling was stained & dirty, there was a hole in the wall, cobwebs everywhere, very old & shabby but definately not chic! Downstairs bar & gardens were nice & you could certainly see where the money had been spent & where it hadn’t. Would not recommend staying here, couldn’t wait to get out.

It is Hotel & Pub. So be prepared for the loud noise till late at night. Even though the pub closed around 11pm, people were hanging around on the road till 2pm. The rooms were very dated & uncomfortable. They didn't have enough digital keys for the guest to check in. The only thing nice about this Hotel were the staff. They were very polite & friendly.

The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and had 4 nice pillows. For the money we paid we were very satisfied.

So bad we could only laugh!
Literally the worst place I have ever stayed. Room was dirty, holes in the bedding - the bed wasn’t actually a full size double. The headboard was caked in dust, the side lamps lampshade weren’t attached and just rolled around. The gap under the door was so large that the hallway light lit up the room like Blackpool illuminations. To top it all off we had no hot water for showers in the morning.

Friendly straff, beautifully decorated like a victorian villa. Lovely garden and the best restaurantarea for a lovely breakfast. Greatvalue for money and clean Nice rooms!!

Service by all staff very good. A very tired room needs complete overhaul. For £120 per night I expected far much better. Very disappointed. Definitely will not be returning.

Cheap and cheerful, good for one night
Convenient for University. Rather tired indoors - loose light fitting in bathroom, rattling window. If the bar hasn't shut at 10pm it would have been noisy in the room

Cheap for a reason
Hotel was dated and in need of a good refit. Bathroom door had no catch so couldn't close the door fully. Didn't feel clean. The rooms are nothing like what's pictured on the website. It didn't help that the only reason we chose this hotel was for the free parking. When we got there, we were told it was a mistake made by Hotels.com and we ended up having to pay as the hotel refused to honour the mistake.

No parking!!!!
On the website it said free parking, we got there to find no parking at all. The 'kids' that were running it just laughed in my partners face about this, no apology, nothing. If we were to have stayed, would have had to leave the car some road about 5 mins walk away, not knowing if it was safe, and having to pay aswell. There was no apology, and when spoke to the manager, she cancelled the booking, and sarcastically said 'glad you got what you wanted' which is completely unprofessional. No apology, or even attempting to sort anything out, or even an offer to pay for the parking as a gratitude of good will, nothing. Won't be booking this again.

Perfect hotel for what we wanted
Great staff who were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, great bar area and room did the trick for what we wanted. Hotel also only a short walk from most places in Bristol! Thank you.

Comfortable
Staff were very welcoming, good service. The room itself was very basic (which is what we expected as it was cheap) but shower was hanging off the wall and could definitely do with a bit of a facelift. All in all a good and comfortable stay.
