”Amazing views and a quiet location… food was excellent… if not a little on the expensive side,as there isn’t any where else to eat . The room which we had was Comfortable and clean… a little warm with no air conditioning but there was a fan which helped a little. The spa and pool facilities was excellent. The staff were friendly and happy to help. Definitely be back”

”It’s hard to comment properly as we arrived late in the dark but even still the staff on the desk were so friendly greeting us, and super helpful and understanding when I realised I’d made a mistake with the booking. It’s lovely and quiet despite being so close to the motorway. Immediately put at ease and reassured that it’s a great place to stay, even if as it is for us just an overnight stopover mid journey. ”

”My stay at the Shakespeare was short but will be remembered as a really good experience. I felt like a truly valued customer, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was good and the bed was huge!! It was 2 lovely nights sleep, nice hot shower in the morning followed by a cooked breakfast. It really set me up for the day. I would most certainly revisit and can recommend it for a good place to stay in Kendal.”

Our room was on the small side but it was well equipped and very clean, with a comfy bed too. The ensuite was perfect. ”We stayed for one night, June 2025, I wish it had been longer! From start to finish, everything about our stay was lovely. Picturesque building in a beautiful setting. Plenty of room in the private car-park. The staff could not have been friendlier. We ate an evening meal in the pub and it was really lovely.
