The room was quite hot, even on a cool day, and were it not for the ability to open the window and use a fan (already in the room) it would have been very comfortable. The condition of the room - new and clean - was very good.”

”This is a beautiful hotel in all aspects! The breakfast was the nicest hotel I have had in a long while and I travel alot!! Perfectly situated for the coast, we visited Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and whitby; and for York and Harrogate. Would definately stay here again if we find ourselves in that part of the country again!!”

”Situated in a picture postcard little village, everything about the hotel was top notch, the decor throughout and our room was tasteful and modern, everything was spotless and clean. The food was excellent, I had the fish platter which I would highly recommend. Staff were attentive and polite, it's a five stars from me”

”The Black Swan in the centre if Helmsley is ideal for visiting the local area,comfortable clean and well appointed. Staff helpful and pleasant. The menus for dinner and breakfast were excellent, served fresh and hot. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely consider booking the hotel again in future.”

”rooms were clean and tidy Staff were very friendly and on arrival and throughout our stay. went out of there way to help or deal with any issue. great service. Breakfast was included. Good choice was offered and was delivered quickly and efficiently. Evening meals were great value for money and plenty of choice. Bar had a nice cosy relaxing atmosphere. The old lodge stay was as expected would recommend.”

”Enjoyed the stay but it was noisy trying to get to sleep in the cottage room and I’m curious as to why there were only 9 loungers in the spa but there are 60 bedrooms ? I had to sit on a chair .. not really the spa experience I was looking for. Also another gripe of mine is no full length mirrors in bedrooms ? And no table near a mirror to sit and dry hair and do makeup ? It’s the little things that make all the difference.”
