A Potentially Ideal Place but Very Disappointing.
We enjoyed our week long stay at The Barn and the surrounding areas but wish we hadn't encountered the issues in this review. Property photos were accurate but the spacious living room, which was a surprise should have been included. The decor was pleasant but very well worn. The couches could certainly use a deep cleaning. The throw pillows & blanket were rather shabby. We arrived with groceries, so went to the kitchen to store everything. Shockingly, the fridge was in a foul state, which took an hour to clean. The odor was not eradicated, just reduced but we had to use it. An unpleasant arrival sitution, especially after traveling all night. The beds were listed as king-sized but were queens in both bedrooms. A duvet cover had some holes, which must have been noticed by whomever made up the bed. Some bulky pillows were substituted while there. Other linens were okay. Description stated: Washer and Dryer on property. The washer's dispenser was disgustingly black & mouldy. We cleaned it, then found it wasn't working. A button was receding into the panel. Appallingly maintained. NO automatic dryer, only a broken/useless electric drying rack. We used the laundry service in town. Very inconvenient! All was reported to the owner. The response was odd "We are a Premier Host with 100% 5 star rating". We were told to call a mechanic to repair things while we were out. Guests should not have to deal with this! We chose The Barn for its description but it was misrepresented.

We are obviously very disappointed to read this review and sorry you felt this way about our property and had this experience. It is very upsetting to read and we will take on everything you have commented on. I do feel through the whole of our experience and Vrbos feedback to me that nothing we could have done would have been right no matter how hard we tried hence mine and Vrbos rating for you as a guest to deal with but thank you again for your feedback we will ensure future guests dont experience this- I have been up to The Barn since to review and agree that some of our new throw cushions had been badly damaged recently and now replaced for future guests . I would like to point out our beds are UK king size ( the shepherds hut is a double) . Thank you Pavia

Really nice stay in the Cotswalds
Family (5 + dog) enjoyed the long easter weekend in this house. It was pretty, well equipped, and we had a great time.

Perfect spot for a relaxing vacation
This home is located in the perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds area. The accommodations, Clapton and nearby villages were all straight out of a storybook. My wife and I had a wonderful time with our four teenage daughters exploring Clapton-on-the-Hill and nearby communities. Our only regret was not extending our stay for a few more days... Janey was a very responsive and helpful host and the property had everything needed for a very comfortable stay. We will definitely return if we are able to make the trip back across the pond in the future!!

Absolutely Outstanding!
This place is absolutely wonderful, beautifully decorated in a fab location, it’s so clean and well equipped… we loved it and the photos do not do it justice!!! Mork the dog took almost permanent place on the dog bed, we will be back

Super mooi huis, van alle gemakken voorzien. Fantastische omgeving. Wat misschien duidelijker vermeld kan worden is dat er in het huis zelf 2 slaapkamers zijn en dat de derde slaapkamer zich aan de buitenzijde bevind in een soort pipowagen, wel super leuk ingericht!! Complimenten voor het totaal plaatje.

Janey’s place is very well located, artistically designed, fully equipped with different cooking equipment (including barbecue) spacious and clean. She responds very fast and always there to help us. My family and I really enjoyed staying here and we highly recommend Janey’s place!

Wonderful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Barn- beautiful location with lots of local walking opportunities, especially dog walking, near to both Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold and a beautifully appointed barn which felt like a real home from home. We would love to return as we didn't get round to visiting all the places we intended to as there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area. Clapton itself is very quiet and there's no local amenities to speak of but it's only a short drive to civilisation! Thanks to the owners for such a fantastic holiday let, definitely one of the best we have stayed in.

Great little place to stay family of four
Well appointed, spacious and cozy. In a very quiet little area but close to many amenities and attractions in the Cotswolds. My 14 year old said it best at dinner one night when he said, “Dad I’m really glad we got this place”

Hidden Gem
The home and property were amazing. Quaint location, yet easy to travel to the many villages of the Cotswolds. The house is beautiful with all the comforts and amenities you could need. Highly recommend!

An amazing property with lots of character whilst having everything required for a perfect holiday away with some great Cotswold locations nearby. The property has been refurbished to a very high standard with underfloor heating making the barn perfect for a cosy break. We very much hope to return!
