The property is very private and secluded, yet minutes away from local beaches, surf shops, stores, and restaurants. Some of the best sport fishing in the world is located south of Santa Teresa in the small port town of Malpais. We booked a half-day charter and caught Mahi Mahi, Roosterfish, and Tuna.
The Emerald Abode is a fantastic property. Clean, and quiet, with spectacular views of the ocean and sunsets. The plunge pool is perfect for cooling off in the late afternoons and early evenings. We fell asleep every night to the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the beach. The property is very secure, with a robust, locking automatic gate.
Be sure to rent a small to mid-size 4-wheel drive when visiting Santa Teresa. We rented a larger Toyota Landcruiser and it is much too large for driving in this area. The roads are mostly unpaved, with lots of pedestrians, quads, motorcycles, cars, and trucks of all sizes.
April is a fantastic VRBO manager. She is attentive, professional, and full of local knowledge of the area. Her advice regarding places to visit and local cuisine never steered us wrong!
When we return to Costa Rica, we will definitely be back to the Emerald Abode!
