  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Nice home in Columbus close to restaurants & town

Home is older but remodeled. Has all the functional elements (rooms, bath, kitchens, etc). However, clearly not a new property. Construction forced parking issues, but the host was very accommodating and helped find other parking options. However, so much mud and mess around the property made the come and go a little more rough. Neighborhood was safe (newer and older homes mixed). Friendly neighbors. No loud students or parties during our stay. Host was great with communication and flexibility around our stay.

Okay property

The house was cosmetically pretty. The road the house was on was under construction and we weren’t informed until the day of check-in. The steps to the property and the stairs inside were very steep. It was expensive for what the property provided. It worked for our weekend stay.

A Home Away from Home

This place was perfect for our extended stay in Columbus. Conveniently located to downtown and a short drive to Short North and the Arena. The hosts were attentive and great to work with. The area is going through a regentrification and once that is complete, it will be even better.

Good Stay in the Blue Door House

This house is clean and comfortable for guest stays and is conveniently located to restaurants in Columbus, Ohio. The beds were comfortable. We had no issues at all and would stay here again!

Perfect for family

The house was great. Beautifully decorated, comfortable beds and hot showers. It had everything we needed. We were pleased with the location. Super close to many shops and restaurants. The neighbors are nice and never had a problem finding parking.

Family football trip

We had 3 couples and a baby staying at your home and it was perfect for us. The only suggestion I have would be maybe some extra blankets in the closets for colder nights. Otherwise the home itself was very nice and had everything else we could have needed!

OSU Hall Of Fame weekend

Very clean and nicely appointed with comfy beds and pillows. Was in town for OSU HOF weekend and this property is in a great location to campus, downtown and short north. Highly recommend. One caution: lighting could be improved to view house #. One guest arrived late and tripped on concrete curb trying to find property. Uber driver left her on sidewalk. Bring a flashlight! house # when dark. arrive

The propert was located within 10 driving minutes of everything that we did, what a great location! We visited German Town, a game at Ohio Stadium, Science and History Museum, and the art museum. It is just steps away from Ohio Brewing Co which has a great family atmosphere and tasty eats. We slept great, very quiet neighborhood. Owner was easy to reach and provided everthing we needed. We will definitely stay with Sean again.

Picture Perfect

The property was just as the pictures showed online - clean, updated, with everything you needed PLUS extra touches for a very comfortable stay. The location was close to Short North restaurants, a grocery store, and the venue for our family wedding, yet it was a very quiet neighborhood. Check-in /out was seamless. Upon arrival I was confused as to where to park, but Sean answered my call within minutes and clarified. Parking in Columbus is a challenge, but we had no issues with this property.

Lovely Place

This was a lovely place to stay. We were in town for a wedding and the VRBO that we had booked unexpectedly had to cancel at last minute. Sean was very kind and was able to accommodate us at last minute. Having 4 double + beds was also a plus!

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! It was very clean and nicely updated. The bathroom space was also great for a group of girls. We were nervous about the street parking but had not issues with it at all! Thank you for a nice relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Fantastic!

Very cool property conveniently located to Short North and many other fun things to do in Columbus. Ohio Brewing Company is steps away and a great place to hang out. Our group of 7 ladies was comfortable and the master bedroom/bathroom is one of the best I've stayed in. Host provided great amenities and were very responsive...although we didn't really need much because they have already thought of everything! Highly recommend!!

Really nice property

The check in process was easy - communication with the owner was good. We had a very nice stay. House was clean and well furnished and the owners had some suggestions for out of towners in regard to where to go out for restaurants and activities. We were in town for the spring game and location was perfect for us to spend time in short north in the evenings to go to bars and restaurants and we took a $15 Uber to the stadium. Short ten minute ride. Over all very satisfied.

Very Comfortable Place

Sean and Steph's place set the water mark for a place to stay in the Columbus area. The house is a newly remodeled single family home with everything you need for an outstanding stay. The beds are very comfortable. Sean is easily reachable and responds quickly. He's very attentive and will handle issues quickly. Only thing I asked him to do was turn up the water temp on the shower fixtures and he made it happen very quickly! The attention to detail in this remodel and the fact that the hosts are available makes this listing a must stay if you're visiting Columbus. Ohio Brewing Company is also literally steps away from the property. Sean and Steph......Great Job!!!
