One of the most picturesque state parks in Georgia, Watson Mill Bridge contains the longest covered bridge in the state, spanning 229 feet across the South Fork River. Built in 1885 by Washington (W.W.) King, son of freed slave and famous covered-bridge builder Horace King, the bridge is supported by a town lattice truss system held firmly together with wooden pins. At one time, Georgia had more than 200 covered bridges; today, less than 20 remain
Built in 1885 and spanning 229 feet. What's wonderful about this covered bridge, besides it's beautiful setting, is that you can still drive or walk across it.
Not many of these old bridges are still around. This one is in excellent condition. Great place to go play in the water and picnic.

Great price/quality ratio
Great location close to UGA campus and downtown Athens. Walk to both only around 10 minutes. Comfortable room with a very good bed. Breakfast was ok as well
