”We stayed at the Wheatsheaf to be within 10 mins drive of the RSPB Leighton Moss reserve. The room was quirky, bare floorboards and steps up to the bed because it's quite high off the floor! The food was excellent and not expensive and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.. Very happy to recommend this place and we'll definitely be staying again. ”

”Absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are really nice and the bar and restaurant area are lovely too. Toiletries were the White Company and in bigger bottles so much more eco friendly as it wasn’t the small single use ones that most other hotels insist on using. We had our dog with us and it’s probably the most dog friendly hotel we’ve stayed in. And the location means there’s a lovely walk along the lake in the woods on the doorstep. Our only criticism was the bedroom was absolutely roasting...

”This was a fantastic find for an overnight stay on our way to Glasgow, wish we could have stayed longer and explored the lake and surrounding areas. The bar and restaurant were very good and the couple who were managing the pub at the time of our stay were excellent hosts. There is plenty of parking and this very old pub has very modern rooms. Would defiantly recommend and stay again. ”
