The Space:
Sassafrass Cottage is a stunning property within the Coastal Collection, offering a breathtaking blend of beauty and comfort. Designed by Atlanta designers, every room showcases casual elegance, highlighted by exquisite lighting, artwork, and furnishings. The living area boasts an open floor plan that encourages relaxation, featuring comfortable seating areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large flat-screen TV mounted above the fireplace. Guests can enjoy fabulous ocean vistas from both the living area and the adjoining screened-in porch, which provides an ideal setting for morning coffee and evening cocktails.

This remarkable cottage accommodates up to 12 guests with its five master bedrooms. Four of these are master suites, each with ensuite bathrooms separated by sliding "barn doors." Three of the masters feature king beds, while the fourth offers two queen beds. The fifth bedroom includes one queen bed. All bedrooms are adorned with lovely artwork, luxury bedding, high-end furniture, and elegant ceiling fans, ensuring a restful retreat for every guest.

Guest Access:
A wonderful ocean-front screened porch offers a relaxing setting for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Also included in the house is a full laundry room with washer, dryer, and laundry sink. Outside, you will find a hot and cold water shower and a gas grill. The cottage also comes with 4 beach chairs. This property is pet friendly.

And the location is sublime! The Sassafras Cottage is situated on the picturesque Avenue of Oaks with a wooded setting at the front and the Atlantic Ocean at the back. As a free-standing house, guests will enjoy privacy and beauty...and all just steps to the beach.

However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. Please contact the vendors directly for rates, days and hours of operation.

2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)

3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.

Getting Around:
Concerned about the logistics of coming to a bridge-less island? No need to worry! Guests receive information and assistance from the DRG team, all of whom live on the island and who are available 24/7 for any problems. Team members strive to create a stress-free and enjoyable adventure for their visitors, and to ensure that their Daufuskie experience creates lasting and once-in-a-lifetime memories.

IMPORTANT: IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE A WATER TAXI OR FERRY TO DAUFUSKIE ISLAND SC. WE WILL HELP WITH THOSE ARRANGEMENTS

** PET POLICY:

We will accept a well-behaved canine member of the family if approved by the property manager. However, the dog must be over one year old, not be aggressive towards people or other pets, be house trained, does not get up on the furniture, and is ok with being left alone when you are away from the cottage (no incessant barking or destructive behavior). We require that you will be a responsible pet owner when the dog is outside, that your dog is always kept on a leash, is up-to-date on flea and heart worm treatment and...most importantly...that there will be no signs that your pet was in the property when you depart. You must be responsible for any damage and/or extra cleaning caused by your dog. There is a nonrefundable pet fee of $125 for one dog; $175 for two dogs.
