Christmas in the Mountains

Huck's place review

Property very nice. Very large house. The pool table needs replaced. We could not use it. The hot tub needs a good cleaning and a lot of chlorine. It was okay for the first two days. Over all we had a great time. I wish there was another refrigerator in the house on the lower level. It would be very useful for the guests.

Great place with lots of space

We were a mixed group of 3 generations from different countries, all with different interests. The house was perfect for everyone to find their own space, but also to hang out together and have our meals together. The kitchen and bedrooms were well equipped and the house was clean. The kids and grown ups really loved the hot tub and the pool table. One thing we weren't happy with was that the fire alarm went off for no reason in the middle of the night the first night of our stay. We were unable to turn it off and we were all very upset. The emergency number went to a call centre and we didn't get any help until Matt got in touch via text message. I hope this won't happen again.

Huck’s Place

Overall fine, 1) the broken handle to unlock on the main entrance door was a constant irritation (& this was noted before and not yet repaired) 2) there is no railing for 2/3rds of the stairway going to the lower level and unsafe.3) The shower/tub in the master suite is also unsafe, slippery, and the wrap around original curtain was broken with major tusk of falling getting in and out.

Family Vacation

PROS: This property is in a nice location if your wanting to go sightseeing to various areas of WV. We had 14 people in our party and this house was large enough to accommodate all. Having a washer and dryer was great. We did not have very good weather ( rainy and cool) but made of the best of it. CONS: The trash drop off was a nuisance. There needs to be a dumpster closer to the location. The deck is very slippery when wet. While the spa tubs are nice, there needs to be a regular tub shower combo or just a single shower on the main floor. My elderly mother in law had a very difficult time climbing over the large whirlpool tub to shower nightly. And the stairs to downstairs shower did not have a hand rail making it hard to get her to the walk in shower.

Nice home

Overall it was very nice. The few issues were, jetted tubs did not work, toilet clogged easily, tubs and hot tub needed better cleaning around spout areas, quit a few minor damages that should be easy fixes but wasn't done. My home might be like this butBut it was nice to have family all in one place.

Just perfect

Great property and fantastic location. We've been going to Timberline for almost 30 years. This is one of the best properties we have stayed in. The only downside this year was no bras and bean necklaces on the trees around the lifts.

Disappointing stay

we arrived to the cabin to find the hot tub wasnt working. The electric panall the turns it on was gone. Both master bedrooms jet tubs were not working.main floor bathroom light not turning on. Because all three light bulbs were missing. They came on day two of out stay and put in 17 light bulbs overall. And only fixed one of the bath tubs. They said they were expecting the part for the hot tub which tells me they knew it wasn't working. It would have been nice to know this at checkin when they handed me the keys. The main reason we rented it was gor the hot tub ..of course no compensation was given and a sarcastic owner was about the best we got when inquiring. Very disappointing stay.

Overall ok

The house was nice. It was difficult to regulate the temperature between floors. If the main floor was 70 the basement was 60 degrees. Disappointed that the home didn't have a real fireplace, the amenities listed a fireplace but it was electric. Some of the furniture needs replaced couches have broken springs popping up. We did have a great time overall.

Family weekend

This property was beautiful! The kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were comfortable, and the open lay-out of the kitchen/dining/living allowed the entire family to enjoy our time together. We will return next year.

Awesome House

We had an awesome time staying at Huck’s Place. Went up for a family reunion and had a ton of space to house a large group. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed to help us relax and enjoy each other’s company. Definitely recommend this property. 😊

Short but pleasant stay

We enjoyed our short two night stay at the property. There were some maintenance issues but we made the managing real estate company aware. I would recommend that inventory of the kitchen supplies be reviewed. Eating utensils and drinking "glasses" were inadequate. It was a great place for our extended family to gather as several in our group were running in the Canaan Valley 10K and Half Marathon.

Lots of room to roam.

The best part about this property is that it is huge - which is why we chose it. There were only 8 of us, but we like our space. The hot tub was also excellent. Be sure to bring your own toilet paper and trash bags as you will not find enough at the property. Depending on what others have left behind, you might also need dish-washing liquid and hand soap. The do leave small bar soap in each bathroom and there was a full supply of detergent packs for the dishwasher and clothes detergent. You go through Timberline resort property to get to the cabin and according to some locals, that resort may be permanently closed, which means you have tons of quiet and privacy. This is a great place for large families.

Nice place to visit

We stayed for 4 nights and had very good time at Huck’s place. There was plenty of rooms to accommodate 16 of us including 6 kids. Place was clean and perfect for what we needed. Highly recommended for family reunions.

Great house - but REALLY way out in the mountains

Perfect for what we needed. Lots of bedrooms, bathrooms, and gathering spaces. Parking was fine for 4 cars. MANY light bulbs are out so consider bringing a spare.

Beautiful! The house was all that was promised and more.

We needed a place to meet up and celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. My brothers family from Baltimore MD, my sisters family from Greensboro NC and the rest of us from Warren Ohio decided to meet in West Virginia. None of us knew the area whatsoever. From the moment I walked into the property mgmt office, I knew we had made the right choice. Then we made our way up to Huck’s Place to find a gorgeous place ready to accommodate our large group. The place had everything we could ever need. It was up to date, very clean and was warm and inviting. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you for helping to make my parents 50th a truly memorable and enjoyable experience!!
