  • Hoop & Griffin sijaitsee suojelualueen reunalla, josta on upeat näkymät Englannin kanaalille. Se on kolmikerroksinen kaupunkitalo, joka juontaa juurensa lähes 200 vuotta ja oli alun perin vanhan Coaching Inn -hotellin asuin- / makuutila, jota kutsuttiin Hoop & Griffiniksi ja joka oli suuri tontti kulmassa. Myöhempinä vuosina sitä käytettiin Seamansin talossa, mutta se on nyt muunnettu upeaan kotiin, joka sopisi perheelle tai kaveriporukalle.
    Tämä talo sijaitsee erittäin hyvällä paikalla kaikilla paikallisilla mukavuuksilla, kuten kaupoissa, pubeissa ja ravintoloissa, sekä kirjaimellisesti kivenheiton päässä rannasta.

    Majoitus on erittäin monipuolinen. Pohjakerroksessa pääset taloon, joka menee suoraan ruokasaliin, johon mahtuu mukavasti 8 parivuoteella pienelle sisäpihalle. Kautta vakaa ovi vasemmalla on keittiö, joka on hyvin varustettu kaikella mitä tarvitset ja toisella puolella on tärkein olohuone, jossa kaasu vaikutus tulipalo, iso TV ja DVD-soitin ja taas näkymät merelle. 1 kahden hengen huone ylimmässä kerroksessa, jolta on näkymät merelle. Kahden hengen huoneessa molemmilla vuoteilla on ulosvedettävä vieras sänky ja tämä huone voi mukavasti nukkua 3 hengelle. Lisävuoteita on saatavilla näihin vuoteisiin tarvittaessa. Ensimmäisessä kerroksessa on tärkein kylpyhuone, jossa on kylpyamme ja suihku sekä toinen olohuone, josta on näkymät Kanaalin johtavaan, toiseen hyvän kokoiseen makuuhuoneeseen / vastaanottohuoneeseen. Tässä huoneessa on 2 vuodetta, jotka voivat olla joko 2 yhden hengen vuodetta tai parivuode. Siellä on myös pääsy ulkotiloihin, joissa on aurinkotuoleja, joka on todellinen auringon ansa iltapäivisin.

A comfortable cottage

The cottage is well situated and well appointed. It is clean and offers excellent facilities. There are lots of glasses and plates in the kitchen. Strangely enough we could not find a vegetable peeler: it would be good to check the basics are covered. However we are delighted with our stay and would recommend the cottage to family and friends.

10 days at the Beach

We had a family event in Deal, so people were coming and going and once we had figured out that the key must remain in the key safe, the house worked perfectly for this. The weather around the event (for early May) was glorious so the outside spaces were a plus, not to mention that the beach was actually across the road. Although the property is a little way from the hustle and bustle (at the weekend) of Deal, the walk along Middle Street was always a joy with something unique to look at with every step.

Cozy house in a very good location

Cozy house with enough space and sleeping places. The location by the sea is very good. Centrally located for excursions to sights in the area. The sanitary system could use some maintenance. Especially flushing the toilet on the 1st floor sometimes caused problems. The kitchen was not very clean: cutlery, plates, pans, ...

Neglect is a Terrible Thing

Hoop and Griffin is in an excellent location and had facilities for 2 married couples. Upon arrival the rundown state and the long term grime of the cottage was unsettling. Also, there was only one fire alarm and it didn’t work. An email to Keepers Cottage brought in an electrician to install 9 fire alarms, and a cleaner who did her best to make the cottage livable. However, she was not a magician. The cottage needs a deep, deep clean, carpets replaced on the stairs, windows fixed and black mold removed from bathrooms, windows and outside sitting areas. The photos of the cottage currently online must have been taken a long time ago. This property has such potential; such a shame it has been neglected.

Mixed experience

We love Deal and have stayed at least five times there and appreciate the quirky old properties. Positives: - Amazing location and front-row view of the beach, sea and pier from top two floors. - Large rooms, good layout and huge downstairs TV. - Comfortable beds and pillows. - Kitchen was well stocked, dishwasher effective, lots of plates/bowls. - Only three normal size wine glasses. Lots of mugs and other glassware. - A few childrens toys under the stairs and two camping chairs for the beach. - Not overly impacted by noise from people talking when walking by as most windows are tastefully double glazed. - Not creaky when walking about for an old property. - Shower pressure was good, water takes a while to heat up but gets very hot so take care. Negatives: - Sun loungers on roof terrace were broken/tried and unusable (one has no legs so you'd be sitting on the floor). - Gusto coffee machine unusable due to missing part (no draw for the pods). - Window blind in first floor bathroom was in an awful state and needs replacing. - Dead plants in outside pots. - Downstairs terrace is barren and could be made much nicer to sit out with some more decor e.g. mirror, trellace. - Kitchen cupboard with the mugs opens vertically and scrapes against the wall. - The property was not particularly clean on arrival and could have done with a deeper clean and hoover (hairs on the floor, some stains, dining table had not been wiped properly). Beds were clean however. - Top bathroom has paint pealing off the ceiling and had moldy wall tiles. - In strong wind the top bathroom extractor fan was very rattly during the night. - No mention of the history of the property anywhere, we had to do own research. Welcome book was tired with untidy handwritten pages. - Some dining room chairs were very wobbly and felt like they could collapse. - No attempt to offer recycling (no boxes, instructions, directions etc). A food waste caddy bag was provided by no caddy. May I suggest that the outside storage shed is cleared so it can be used for the recycling boxes. We enjoyed our stay but there was room for improvement. I would recommend this property if they address the issues. As ever Deal was lovely.

Hoop and Griffin Deal June 2021

We stayed 16 nights in the Hoop and Griffin, ideally located adjacent the beach and edge of the Old Town. The property is has many fine attributes ( additional first floor lounge / rear roof sun terrace / large dining room / external courtyard / side storage area / well laid out kitchen / farm house split doors. The photos offer a true representation of the property. We had family stay with us during the weekends and indeed was very spacious. Would definitely return.

The house is on 3 floors with comfortable beds in every bedroom. Two bathrooms, one with a bath. Dining room off of the kitchen and a small patio area. There is a gorgeous roof terrace with a side view of the sea that’s perfect for morning coffee . Free WiFi. Everything you could possibly need is supplied, such as washing machine, microwave, tumble dry etc. There are sea views from virtually every window but sadly the majority of the windows don’t open. So, if you’re a photographer hoping to get some great shots be prepared to be shooting through a closed window. To be fair, Keepers Cottages did their best to remedy the problem but it turned out that new windows are needed to be installed. The stairs could be a problem for anyone with agility problems as they are very steep. To sum up, this house was a great place to stay, in a great location, managed by a very helpful company, but I was hugely disappointed by the window problem.

Love all the extra touches like providing blankets and the provisions provided when you arrive (like eggs, milk, bread and home made jam etc). The location of the house is fantastic. Great having sea views and so close to being able to walk into Deal for town, pubs and restaurants etc. It had such a well stocked kitchen too and we loved that there is free parking only about 5-10 minutes away. Fabulous house, would recommend anyone to go. Only downside was It does have 2 flights of steep steps so may be a problem with someone who has mobility problems!

Short break in Hoop and Griffin

We had a fabulous time. The house is so lovely, with plenty of space and very comfy. Nice sea view property in Deal

Cosy but spacious :-) sea view property in Deal. Kitchen was well equipped including dishwasher and large fridge. Nice Art Deco interior of large double bedroom with sea view at front with two additional double bedrooms met our needs admirably. Keepers Cottage team were so helpful and great to do business with, excellent attention to customer satisfaction. Would certainly stay here again :-)
