The owner of this property ( won’t mention by name for privacy's sake) came to our rescue after we were left high and dry by another VRBO. She facilitated early check in, met us at the street level and, at the end of our week’s stay, drove us to the train station.
The apartment is on a quiet street, right in the historic centre ville. It’s up 3 flights of steep steps, so if you’re movement impaired or with young kids you may want to think twice - otherwise I would rush to rent this flat again.
Small but highly functional kitchen ( that includes washer dryer), well lit dining room that doubled as my office, and comfortable living. Digital TV has Netflix so was spared watching cnn ad infinitum.
Both beds and baths are of decent size and there’s even a dressing area on the upstairs room, making a handy place to hide suit cases etc.
Apartment comes with a many tour books plus the owners recommendations for dinner, side trips etc. Note, Dijon is more of a well appointed country town than city and fairly shuts up shop on Sunday and Monday. V’s shortlist of Sunday restaurants was a huge help.
Although we pretty much had fully explored the city by day 2, there’s lots to do in surrounding countryside from the wine route to Beaune and Macon, chateaus and fantastic monestaries that were Cluny’s legacy. The main museum in town feature important medieval altarpieces and is perhaps best done in 2 2-3 hour visits vs one marathon. Area, town and apartment highly recommended.
