Pros: location, history of building, comfort of bed. Impressive water pressure for 2nd floor. Nice tea setup with biscuits. Great blackout curtains: I didn’t even realize there were streetlights outside my window until I opened the curtains at night. Neutral: Has a physical key, not a keycard, which makes no difference to me. Window opens a little and you can request a fan. Cons: not very clean-looking. Carpet clearly needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. Bathroom looks like it was renovated in the last 5 years, but they ran out of money before they could finish the floor. (Found a couple stray hairs that suggested they also could do a better job cleaning in general…) For me, the location and the charm of the building outweighed the cons. The location really can’t be beat. It’s right in the center of the city so you can walk anywhere. It’s on the high street so it is practically next door to several coffee shops and eateries. One building away from the cathedral, one street away from the Ely Museum, a 5-minute walk from Oliver Cromwell’s house, which is both a museum and the visitor’s center. As for the building, it comes up in any mention of the history of Ely, it looks exactly like a classic pub on the outside, and the inside of the building has a lot of character. So for me, it all balanced out.

Nice old hotel in the centre of the town. Cathedral was literally a minutes walk away. Oliver Cromwell house probably five minutes walk. Several pubs and restaurants very close by. Shops are all around you. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was great and always came out hot. Beers were well kept with plenty of choice. Parking in courtyard was free. Overall an excellent stay.

Great location for access to town/ cathedral , Oliver Cromwell house. (But also close to main roads). Our room was dated Split Wc / bathroom and tired. But main bar / restaurant area welcoming and great atmosphere. Breakfast fab.

Enjoyable stay
One night stay. Our room was very neat and clean. Secondary glazing kept out the traffic noise but the heat in. We found the staff friendly and professional. The place was really busy with a good atmosphere. The pub food was good too.

good value... nice place
loved our stay...central for all the bars and restaurants, huge room with the kingsize bed was worth the little extra for the room..as it had a sofa and plenty of space.. the hotel is much larger than the picture suggests .. nice cooked breakfast... all in all very enjoyable stay.

We travelled from Glasgow for a family funeral and The Lamb offered so many positive features. A kind and attentive staff, a lovely breakfast and the general ambience of the hotel made our stay comfortable and memorable.

Convenient location for visiting Ely . Bathroom very tired . Bed not so comfortable . On site parking very limited and full so had to drive round and round in the dark to find parking . Very expensive for basic clean room . Staff very friendly and helpful .

Lovely old coaching inn very close to Ely cathedral and main shopping street, all well within walking distance. Green King know how to run a hotel! Very friendly staff & good meals without excessive prices.

Bad stay
Staff very good especially the young girl on reception who did my check-in / out. But unfortunately my room was roasting hot on 10/9/23 which meant I didn't get any sleep at all hardly....A fan was provided but it was just circulating the hot air around the room..the window would only open a few inches which also very poor . The room was also very dated decor wise especially the bathroom very poor. Parking at hotel very good although limited.

Little tired
The hotel is ideally situated and the rooms were large but a little tired and dated but clean Breakfast was good for 2 mornings but dreadful at on the last day with items missing and sausage and bacon stone cold There are not many parking spaces but luckily we got one every day so I’m not complaining Overall the stay was very enjoyable and we will come me back

The Lamb does a brilliant job at being what it is - a long established City Centre hotel. die to the age of the building, some features and surrounding area may have seen better days, but the welcome, and especially the food, are absolutely top hole.

Stayed for 2 nights and booked a double room, though I got a king size bed with a seating area. Most important the bathroom was clean! Bed was comfy and room was reasonably quiet. Also had tv, tea & coffee, fan, iron…a lovely room. Managed to get a space in the free car park at the back of the hotel. Paid for breakfast - the full English was delicious and well worth the money. Also ate in the pub & restaurant - pub style menu, but the food was good. Noticed there are a few other places to eat nearby too. Location is great. Ely Cathedral is just down the street, Oliver Cromwell’s house a short distance and the lovely riverside a 15 minute walk away. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and service was excellent. I’d stay here again.

Quite clean overall and all staff excellent but rooms Spartan one chair, nowhere to put suitcase except on bed, duvet very small and cheap, beds okJUST! And only one hand towel between 2 guests, house policy!!! Catering especially breakfast very good and prices including bar also very good. No Comfort for residents other than combined bar restaurant. Location excellent and good parking if you arrive early.

The staff, location and food were great. Unfortunately the room (19) was too hot and windows are not allowed to be opened. This caused an uncomfortable nights rest. There was a fan but it was too noisy to leave on during the night. The double bed was small more a three quarter size so sleeping was not good. If visiting Ely Cathedral this hotel is a perfect location. Before booking I would try to get a ground floor room for access to fresh air and also to check re the bed size. It would have been a perfect stay if the rooms were more comfortable to rest in

It was mighty hot last week I was put in a room under the roof so hot at 5/6pm even for the first time in my life my iphone messaged me it was TOO HOT I complained James found me a cooler room no phone! Staff ok breakfast ok Rooms should not be offered in such heat ever unless air conditioned I go on holiday twice a month if well no covid I know what is acceptable
