”The place was decent for the price and the location is good. The issue is that the staff doesn't understand English. Night clerk nor housekeeping could assist us properly. We had a small dog and inquired about the pet fee. The night clerk couldn't tell us and said don't worry about it. In the morning as we were leaving the day manager was harassing my elderly parents while they sat in the lobby waiting for me to load the car. When I told him to stop and what the night clerk said he proceeded...

”Nice location close to restaurants. Building well maintained inside and out.”

”Hotel was worn out. Room had stains in carpet, and mattresses were squeaky. Wood surfaces in the elevator were worn and damaged. Overall the property just looks work out and needs an update.”

The room is large and spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and very helpful - plus the hotel itself is quite interesting to learn it's history and walk around viewing artifacts from the past. If you are staying in Amana, we highly recommend the Hotel Millwright, we wish all of our hotel stays were as nice as this one!!”

”This hotel has no staff on site. We stayed for two nights and received no housekeeping services at all. No exchange of towels, replenishment of supplies, the bed was unmade. Nothing. The furniture was beat-up. I would have expected 1/2 the price to stay there. I do not recommend it and I would never stay there myself again.”

”The room was clean but smelled like dog. We stayed in four hotels that week across the country and this had the worst breakfast, cold biscuit, bad sausage,no egg all at 840 breakfast closed at 9. a little disappointing”

”We stay every time we travel thru Iowa City and it never disappoints. Staff is friendly, checkin is easy, location good, rooms comfortable and clean. The happy hour in the lobby with snacks and drinks is wonderful!”

”Check in set the tone. The girl was the most unfriendly hospitality worker I’ve encountered. 0 welcome. 0 communication. Checked in and discovered our door was broken and dead bolt wouldn’t latch. Back to the desk. Unfriendly worker inconvenienced by this. We left to eat and came back to see if issue resolved. Again-she is inconvenienced. Hard to find positives when this person kills the vibe.”

”The staff here were so accommodating! The beds were super comfy and the pool was open till 10:00 p.m. which was nice. The floor in the pool area needs to be redone, and some sort of ventilation or fans would be helpful in there. Breakfast was really good, lots of options. Iowa is famous for their spiders, but I didn't find even one in the room, I was impressed. I'd stay again”
