”The hotel is a very short distance from the M6, which makes it an ideal stop over. The accommodation was really comfortable with lovely restaurant and bar facilities. We were made most welcome by all members of staff. Food was well prepared and nicely presented. Will definitely pass details of this place to family and friends.”

”We have enjoyed a fantastic 2 night stay, the location was spot on only 2 minutes to Lake Windermere and the ferry landing point. Colin is the perfect host, very attentive, knowledgeable of the area and looked after us well. Breakfast was a lovely; full English in a cosy setting. The room was fine with all amenities. It was our birthdays whilst there and Colin decorated the room, these touches are most appreciated. Definitely recommend 10/10”

”Very good breakfast and a wide selection of food available all day. Spotlessly clean room and pleasant indoor and outdoor seating areas. Mattress was too soft but that's more of a personal preference.”

”Yes the staff was friendly my husband had a medical emergency staff did up and beyond there duty had the same room for extra nights while my husband was in hospital couldn’t do enough in making my still was saved and se cure .Did not get to the spa but I would books holiday there again in a heart beat.breakfast had lovely options ”

”I didn't have breakfast but the evening meal was very good. Friendly and helpful staff. Varied menu. Good service. Unfortunately, the hotel could not find any evidence of my Expedia booking amd I had to pay a last minute, higher price, for the night.”

”Lovely sized room above a pub. The check in staff was amazing, helped carry the bags up the stairs explained everything, gave us a late check out for the following day. Very nice. ”

”Very nice hotel, all the staff we dealt with were very polite and friendly. The cooked breakfast was cooked fresh, we had one evening meal which was very nice. The only downside was that the Spa was being renovated, I would definitely use this hotel again.”

”Car park was full in the evening so had to park in a lay-by nearby. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. We were in a top floor room with a very low ceiling that could do with some padding on the corners as it was a safety hazard.”

”The hotel was lovely in a beautiful place and great views all round. We were upgraded which was great and the room was clean, great quality, comfortable and spacious. All the staff were very lovely and professional. The pool and sauna area was nice but I would say not to book this hotel for that as it was quite basic but a nice extra. We decided not to eat in either of the restaurants as they were both pretty expensive. One negative is there isn't really anything nearby in the way of shops or...

”The hotel itself is very dated that is also as its an old building and the character of the building is from 18th century. The room was okay and can be improved. The staff looked agitated and not very friendly. The restaurant menue is overly priced and very limited. No service except within limited lunch and dinner time with pre booking.”

”Warm comfortable room in lovely hotel that is walking distance from lake. House was where Beatrix Potter took holidays & she eventually bought it for her mother. Love the whimsical touches such as carpets & wallpaper. Easy private parking included. Stairs to rooms on first & second floors but staff help with luggage if needed. Dinner & breakfast at the hotel restaurant were good.”
