Reception staff could have been a bit more friendly, no satisfaction check when we left. Hotel clean but in need of repair and painting. Sink was cracked in our room. Surrounding gardens could be better, tidier. A bit more signage to help find your room and a few other bits, we were a bit lost. Food was really nice. We had a lovely view from our room. Surrounding area lovely. We could see with a little bit of work the gardens would be lovely. Bar staff and Manager really friendly and helpful.

Comfortable
Stayed one night with my sister to attend a funeral. Comfortable, warm, plenty hot.water. Easy to walk into Grange or along prom from hotel. Great views across bay & sunrise from breakfast room. Woodland walk signposted but didn’t have time to explore

What a wonderful place to stay.
This was my second stay at this hotel and this stay was as fantastic as the first one, the staff were polite and helpful and the food was fantastic.

NOT a Dog friendly hotel!
Booked the Cumbria Grand Hotel for 1night on Sept 20th to visit our daughter and Grandson who live in Grange as it is described as 'Doggy Friendly' which it is definately NOT. We were charged £15 for the dog and not even a water bowl provided in the room. Fortunately we brought our own but in all the hotels we have ever stayed in with our dog, we have never had to use our own. She was not allowed in the bar or restaurant so we had to sit in a tiny side room to eat on our own. Only 1 very dim light working in the room and we had to eat our meal by the torch on my mobile as it became darker. Our bedroom No 125 had a lovely view but thats all! The ceiling paper was coming down, the bathroom was so small that the door didn't open because it hit the bath side. The bath side panel was falling in under the bath the sink was very cracked and so was the bath. The bathroom door had to be closed upon entering as the sink was behind it as it was so small! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone especially if they were taking a dog. We were made to feel like Lepers. Definately NOT a dog friendly hotel and should have it removed from the description! Very disappointed.

Property had obviously been very grand at one time, and retains interesting features and architecture. But it was really tired and dated. We had to access our 3rd floor room via the only route available which was a 1970s fire escape staircase. Weren't sure how we were to evacuate if there was a fire between us and that staircase. The lift wasn't working, and when it was 'fixed' it was so scary we elected to continue to use the stairs. Corridors were fitted with economy lighting which flickered on and off and with the long corridors, were reminiscent of The Shinning. Finally chairs in the dining room were filthy with old stains. Breakfast was good however, with great quality sausages and bacon.

The staff are pleasant and look after you. However Saturday nights dinner was spoilt by overcooked pork which was very dry. And at breakfast the bacon was overdone. Having stayed at the hotel the month before everything was okay..

A grand, Grand hotel.
What an absolutely fantastic hotel the staff were so friendly including the banter with the bar staff, even though one of them was a Manchester United fan(I’m a Leeds fan). I was only there for one night but it was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in for a long time.

Lovely comfortable, clean, quiet hotel in picturesque countryside commanding stunning views of the bay. The hotel has considerable olde world charm and is extremely evocative of another point in time. The cooked breakfast in the morning is absolutely delicious 😋

Past it’s best, needs an upgrade. Receptionist on arrival (male) didn’t make eye contact, a little weird. Room hot day and night despite opening windows which were restricted for “safety reasons” so we couldn’t throw ourselves out! Not great value for £99 per night and no breakfast included.

Lovely room
I enjoyed my stay at the Cumbria Grand. The staff were very friendly. I liked my room with a balcony especially as the temperature was very hot. However, I would have liked to have some drinking water and a glass in my room, especially as the temperature was very hot.

It was a pleasant stay, the hotel is a bit tired.the staff were nice and helpful the whole place was nice and clean! The only letdown was breakfast poorly prepared food on a buffet style.

Desparate need of renovation very old & tired building, Staff generally pleasant although check in said room was not pre-paid even though I had all the paid receipts, then told the lift was not working which made things difficult, Lovely setting & views

Excellent accommodation in a grandiose building.
Very comfortable stay. This five star hotel is in a lovely, tranquil setting. Very helpful staff and easy checkin service. Good menu of food on offer . Very tasty carvery menu in the evening with roast beef, Turkey and ham and other casseroles etc. excellent range of vegetables and condiments. Excellent cooked breakfast on offer.

Anniversary stay
We visited here as a wedding anniversary celebration i did check reviews prior to booking so knew it was going to be a risk here. Room was sort of clean. Needed lots of tlc bathroom clean however stains on bottom of divan bed on floor near radiator where it had leaked. Weird black stains on bath didnt feel clean to use. We had a dog with us so we knew it wasn't going to be amazing spotless. Place was like what other reviews said needs a lot if money spent on it to get it up to standard. Staff was nice food was lovely but dont think we would return

Room really clean, bathroom also clean and spacious. However, windows, wallpapers are old and in need of a refurbishment. Reception staff friendly. Restaurant staff really rude, waited one day 10 minutes to be sorted and brought us cold milk.
