”Spent two nights as a couple with a small dog. Totally relaxing break on the banks of the River Trent. Stayed in one of the adjacent cottages (no 14). Excellent. Only niggles were that although the bathroom had been recently refurbished, the extractor fan was not working and there was nowhere to hang a towel. Bathroom had the best shower I have ever used. Talk about a whoosh!
We ate both nights in the restaurant. It had a limited menu, but the food was good. Food and drinks reasonably priced....
”Had a lovely meal, during our stay, for our daughter's graduation. We also had cocktails which were excellent. The option of air conditioning would be a bonus, but we were provided with a fan and the fact that you can open a window meant that we had a comfortable room temperature. All the staff were lovely, Lesley was particularly helpful. We have stayed here previously and the refurbishments have made it an even better experience.”

Very close to bescot train station only a few min walk. We had food on first evening pizzas pricey but really nice. I ordered an 8inch, they ran out but rather than saying I couldn’t have it they sent out a 12inch for no extra charge which was good! Chips were horrible though. ”Pleasant, friendly & polite staff, always happy to help. Easy hotel to negotiate to rooms and public areas. Quiet room with little noise from fellow residents. AC worked well and was quiet. Plenty of hot water at peak times. plenty of parking and decent sized bays. Meals were presented as advertised and well cooked with adequate portions by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. "Disturbingly noisy at least during the week end nights because of the loud music coming from the neighbouring clubs and bars till early hours.
Fortunately I was not close to the ongoing renovation work of the hotel itself.
Other little flaws like non-functioning USB outlet and lightning, too.
Kind cleaning staff and some receptionists, however majority of people at the reception did not seem to be able to communicate neither with guests nor between themselves. Their stubbornly quiet way of working without speaking and just leaving the customer was embarrasing."
