”This may be my all time favorite of all the hotels I’ve stayed at! It’s maybe not for everyone but it oozes history and it felt like stepping back in time. The staff is really wonderful and were amazing. The beds super comfortable and the room had an amazing view of the river and mountains. If you’re a nostalgist like me you won’t be disappointed. ”

”Great room loved the semi outdoor bath. Good location in Nikko and friendly staff. Wonderful couple of days. Delicious dinners and breakfast. If anything, maybe a bit less tofu in the meals, I know it is a specialty. Would highly recommend. ”

”The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay and made every effort to accommodate our needs. We really enjoyed the food, it was excellent as were all the catering staff. ”

”It was a great experience staying in a traditional ryokan, visit an onsen (public bath) and use a yukata (Japanese robe). Lovely staff, great location and spacious and clean room. A futon mattress would have made the experience even better, but the down duvet was wonderful.”

”Super helpful and friendly staff gave us good information about the surrounding area. You could make coffee/tea whenever and there was a shared fridge, microwave etc. You could also take a bath in a traditional japanese hot spring bath which was amazing! We had a japanese style room which was so cute but the futon bed was a bit uncomfortable for us. Would definitely stay here again!”

”Everything was excellent, from caring staff, property condition and food. Please note that there is no lift, but they take your bags up and down (2-4 floors). Free coffee/tea in their cafe/bar. Onsen was also very good. Room was spacious and we were allowed an early check-in. Highly recommended if you are visiting Chuzengi. Take care driving up the winding road during winter.”
