Pets are warmly welcomed here, and nearby trails around De Tolplas lake offer ideal spots for scenic walks with your furry companions. A short drive takes you to the lush landscapes of Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park—perfect for dog-friendly hikes and picnics.

Although the on-site restaurant is temporarily closed (Jan 13–Feb 4, 2026), you'll find an array of local dining gems nearby, from rustic Dutch eateries to cozy cafés in Almelo. The welcome folder inside the lodge lists recommended spots so you can indulge in regional cuisine with ease.
Note: During Easter, the event Hexel on Wheels will take place on Saturday, April 4, and Monday, April 6, next to the park. This is a fun cross-event for both young and old. Please note that the event will be audible from within the park.
