”Food room staff was excellent but think outside needs painting”

”Staff friendly and good especially the restaurant manager. Could have fixed the double glazed secondary window as it wouldn’t stay open, did tell them but they didn’t fix it . Proped it open with a coat hanger. Room was reasonably clean. No fridge or safe. Good shower even though it was over the bath. Entrance not inspiring needs a good clean and carpets were past their best.”

”Really really bad. Dirty, expensive, poorly maintained and had hardly any sleep due to kids screaming and playing knock a door run until 11pm. Wouldn't recommend - we travel theme parks around the world and stay in on site accommodation regularly. This was by far the worst.”

Initial reception - given questionnaire with another guests details, spoke of our ‘standard room’ which I pointed out was incorrect - booked a superior room. MUCH whispering with a colleague and tapping of computer keyboard then told to wait whilst they sorted out a glitch with the system and issues with the superior room availability. ”Lovely place, service was authentic and very friendly. Would have helped to have parking instructions beforehand, but they handled it perfectly as well at the location. Breakfast was good and the location was convenient for exploring the Peak district.”

”Booked here for mine and my partners 2nd anniversary! Room was bigger than I thought! (Good thing) Nice and clean! Air-conditioning which was a life saver with the weather at the moment! Ended up having a Sunday lunch at the pub next door to the rooms and it was the best Sunday lunch I've had out! Staff we're great and attentive! Would definitely return!”

”Room was adequate, the heated towel rail was on the other side of the bedroom wall so the bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even at night - but the wife preferred this. The bed was quite firm and a good size. It was difficult to view the TV screen from the settee on the back wall. Tea (Yorkshire) and coffees were plentiful - not so much biscuits. Full English, plus cereals, juice, toast and tea/coffee refills welcome.”

”We stayed in a beautiful hive which was nicely done and the hotel itself was beautiful. We were disappointed not to have a bath or to be able to use any the sauna facilities and that whole building seemed to be in the midst of renovation. We were also surprised that breakfast wasn’t included and that when we ordered English breakfasts we didn’t get any toast and when we asked for some were then charged £2.50 per slice. I feedback when we departed that I was not impressed but nothing was done...

”This is an marvellous property. Our room is spacious and clean. The breakfast is very good and has many choices. There’s a plenty of places with free parking.”

”Unfortunately no staff on reception at any time so no help when you need it. Had to find my own key to the room when arriving late as no porter around. Food very good though and room clean”

”We enjoyed our stay at Makeney Hall. The first night we arrived late and the couch pull out bed had no sheets or blankets. The front desk staff was very kind and went and found what we needed and we were very grateful. The room was nice size and the grounds were very beautiful.”
