Majatalot – Howden

”Father and son stopover after two days of hiking during a long drive home. The Wellington Hotel was exactly what we needed — easy check‑in, no fuss, clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot showers, and a genuinely tasty breakfast that set us up for the rest of the journey. Simple, welcoming, and spot‑on. Highly recommended.”

”Room was clean and comfortable but starting to show signs of needing attention (worn through couch covers, split pillow case) the TV didnt want to turn on and there has been a downgrade in the bathroom amenities from the baylis & harding i loved. Parking was plentiful”

”Beautiful hotel and staff”

”Lovely Hotel with a cozy athmosphere. Beverly as a town is also very nice and worth a visit and Hotel is right in the middle of it. Breakfast is very English which can be bit overwhelming. Wifi works well. Will stay again. ”

”2nd time this year we have stopped here, the beds are super comfy, the rooms are clean, slightly old fashioned but in-keeping with the whole pub, a proper pub I may add. The staff are fantastic and cant do enough, the breakfast quality & service are amazing, I have been in 5 star hotels and have a food that is no where near the quality of this. On top of this there is free parking, which a massive plus in York as parking is very expensive and usually miles away from the hotel John”

”The room was very tired, wobbly floorboards, causing the wardrobe to rattle excessively. The bathroom again was tired, the shower was cold. Broken toilet roll holder. It was clean though. We were hardly in the room anyway, so it did what was needed. The fire alarm went off on the first night, which wasn't a nice wake up call. Luckily it was just someone vaping in their room. The staff were friendly though . I'm was about a 25 minute walk from the station there's a bus also. No 3 heworth cafe was...

”Room Comfortable, Noise could be heard from adjoining rooms though the hotel did provide earplugs. Good choice of beers in the bar and the Korean food provider served delicious food”

”Excellent all round food and accommodation”

”Quiet with parking. The restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. The room was ok. We almost locked ourselves in because the door handle fell off.”

”Just came back after a 2-night stay. The place was easy enough to find and we didn’t struggle for parking either, location is great. However, as it is self check-in there isn’t anyone around. Everything is done via text messages and code locks. The first room we were given hadn’t been cleaned at all after the previous guests had left. I let the person at the other end of the text messages know, and we were “upgraded” to another room (slightly larger and had a bathtub instead of a shower). This ...

”This is my favourite place to stay. Clean rooms with everything you need for a short stay. The food is amazing and plenty of choice. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend”

”Lovely old building a stones throw from city centre. Staff incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend.”

”Great lovely small hotel! Nice location near the city wall and University of York. Good breakfast and excellent service.”

”Staff not always present. Strange set up with gate closure and opening. We left with no one there and used code to heave property. Dust bunnies on pipes behind sink.”
