Lomamökit – Hvolsvöllur

”This was the perfect stop after three days in the Highlands and before continuing along the South Coast. We arrived at Brú after 8pm, which was just about right. Honestly, I do not think we could have driven much further that night. There are completely dark areas between the cottages with no artificial lighting, so there is almost no light pollution. The number of stars you can see is incredible, and this would be a perfect place for watching the northern lights. Unfortunately, we got...

”We had a lovely stay at Askot Cottages and were sad to leave! The cottage was very cosy and has been very thoughtfully designed. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the gorgeous view from the big window. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights twice while we were there! We also appreciated the small touches, with plenty of tea and coffee for our stay, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided. There is even a small shop where they have basics you can purchase (cash only). Having...

”Great clean looking property out in the wilderness.. plan to get your own stuff to eat for the stay”

”Let’s start with the positives- cute little cabin with great access to the big waterfalls, quiet, probably a fantastic location to view the northern lights, the shower didn’t leak water onto the floor, beds were comfortable, decent kitchen set up, some very nice restaurants close by, it did in fact sleep four people. Now for the negatives- upon arrival we realized the toilet paper dispenser was locked and the paper wouldn’t dispense. There were no extra rolls of toilet paper available. I tried...

”Really cool place set in a tranquil environment. Cozy and sufficient. Highly recommend!”

”Lovely cabin :well appointed: comfortable bed. But long drive from town 28km and half of it is (currently) a gravel road. It’s a beautiful place. We walked across field to waterfall. Views of the volcano. Nice respite but know you have a drive from the highway/town”

”This was a very cute place. The windows were big and the area had a beautiful view of mountains. It is not too far from Hella. The bed was comfy. It was nice to have a TV as well. I would recommend and would stay again.”

”If you like being out of the way Afternoon Cottages is a great jumping off point for adventuring. It is well equipped and very clean. It has a great price point and very basic. It worked great for us because it was simply a place to cook dinner and sleep. You have access to all the necessities about 25 minutes away in Hella. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.”
