”This was our favourite accommodation throughout Japan. The room was huge with a separate toilet and powder room to the bathroom. Japanese PJ's were provided which was a nice touch, also a hair straightener and curler and Nespresso coffee pods. The staff were amazing, so polite and helpful and always smiling. The breakfast was an experience in itself - opt for the Japanese style breakfast- it was delicious. The location was perfect, only a 5 min walk to the Keihan subway line and walking distance...

”It was raining heavily the day that we arrived at Kyoto and our original room had a bit of a musty smell to it. Once we brought it up to the front desk, the manager was so helpful and accommodating and was able to move us to a different room. They even bought us a cake to apologize for the inconvenience which is service we are not typically used to in the US. Throughout our stay, the staff continued to be so helpful - to building us a custom box to fly home with a poster we bought so it didn't...

”The Hyatt is conveniently located not far from a JR Sunday line from where one can reach almost all interesting locations in Kyoto. The rooms are well designed, clean and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Japanese restaurant is nice and provides good food & good & friendly service but it is expensive compared to restaurants at the Ponto-cho. If one has a car parking is provided on site for a fee. My wife and I staid for 6 nights and we liked the hotel.”

Restaurant was very good for dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast (NOT Western style if that is your hope) walkable to transit, convenience stores, restaurants and some traditional temple sites. ”We stayed 6 nights at Sim's. We were very satisfied with the guest house and friendliness and helpfulness of the family running the guest house. The location is good near Gion and temple areas in a quiet residential area. There were small groceries near the guesthouse, but a few restaurants. It was easy to go downtown by bus (5 min. walk to bus stop). Day passes for buses was sold at the front desk. The guest house was opened this year, so the taxi driver had difficulties to find it.
