We had a wonderful stay at Villa Sara. The photographs do not do it justice. The rooms were very stylishly decorated with comfortable beds (although could maybe do with a few extra pillows).
The outside area is huge with secure parking, a number of seating areas and the pool is lovely. There are views to the sea from the terraces at all three sides of the house and watching the sunset over the sea was a highlight of our holiday.
Walter was always on hand to help when we needed any advice.
There are a number of restaurants in the town, all of which were very friendly and accommodating as we had a 2 year old with us. I would definitely recommend hiring a car as there is so much to see of the area that you wouldn’t be able to on foot or by public transport.
Would highly recommend Mondello and Cefalù for incredible beaches with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Palermo itself is bustling and lively (the cathedral and food markets being the highlights for us) but if you intend to drive into the city, head for one of the central underground car parks as street parking in the city is very busy.
The cable car up to Erice, the mountain town above Trapani, was a surreal experience. The views from the cable car and the top are amazing and it is so surprising the extent of the town above. You would never know from the ground that it was there! Visit Maria Grammatico’s sweet shop in Erice. Her story is humbling and inspiring and her sweets are exquisite!
All round a fabulous holiday and a very authentic stay in beautiful Sicily!
