”Nice location (quite remote and quiet) and friendly staff. Some gaps in the breakfast service, e.g. lacking glasses, plates etc. And the breakfast ended already at 9 which was very early for me. The condition of the hotel was quite worn-out and occasionally dirty, there were several spiderwebs and spiders in the hallway and the smell of our room was musty. ”

”Very relaxed atmosphere and staff always polite and helpful - brilliant location for an overnight stay being actually on the motorway but once at the hotel you wouldn’t know it. ”

”I felt comfortable soon has i walked in staff where lovely, the only thing was they had a power cut for 12 hours and it was pitch black in the bedroom i know its not there fault but i have a walking disability which i try to keep to my self. But other than that i have had a fantastic stay.”

”A lovely old world pub, the highest in Britain. Lovely ambience, cosy bar areas and nice rooms. Just a few scruffy areas like the carpet going up to the accommodation and the ceiling and floor of the bathroom sliding door area. However it is understandable with being a busy pub with people with work boots and walking boots constantly in and out. The food was good, with lots of choice and well cooked. ”We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you (without being over bearing). The whole place was spotless, the food was impeccable and it was very dog friendly. We wish we could’ve stayed longer! ”

”We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak. The room was basic, but clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner there as well and it was delicious. The breakfast was good. My husband got the full English and I got scrambled eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs seemed to be the rehydrated kind, but otherwise the meal was good. We would stay here again. ”
