”Rana Roja was absolutely amazing! The owner Herardo was super nice, hospital and helpful. This place was more than advertised. They had a small and cute pool with a small waterslide which was nice addition during the warm evening. The property had many interesting walking paths which kind of felt like being on a nature tour or a hike, very cool! The owner was very helpful in making our stay comfortable and gave us good tips for tours around the area. We ended up going to a turtle watching tour...

”Our family stayed for a second time at the Kukula Lodge and it again exceeded expectations. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds are extremely well-kept, rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is plentiful and delicious . . . and the lodge is just a few minutes' walk to the beach. To top it off, the price is very reasonable- what more could you want? It was truly a pleasure to stay at Kukula Lodge and we will certainly be back!”

”The big front porch with a table, chairs, and fan is terrific! I wasn't able to make coffee, so they brought me a French Press right away. The owner is quick to help and responds right away. I also love that people can't just wander onto the proper. They either need a key or to be let in. It's very safe.”

”Terrible location if you don’t have a rental. Too far to walk to town or the beach and local taxis and Ubers are unfamiliar with its location in the sticks. No restaurants nearby. This is an eco lodge, meaning, no air conditioning, and boy will you miss hit. You will boil alive in your room. Staff provided an extra fan, which did little to help.”

”Unfortunately I was unable to enjoy a stay at the Casa Grande. There is no road to the place, i.e. they have to pick you up by boat. I sent an e-mail, left two WhatsApp messages and tried calling 4 times, all to no avail. Even 2 days later I have not heard from them. I ended up in Parismina without any recourse to get to the place, and so I had to find a different accommodation there. Very unfortunate. If you can book this place in the morning for the evening, the resort must respond, otherwise...

”It rains quite often, so there is always water in the waterfalls, which are quite magnificent. You can handfeed toucans and hummingbirds in the park. In the hotel room's balcony there is a hummingbird feeder so that you can watch them very close. The tour to volcano Poas was a disappointment. The staff advised us to reserve the tour on a previous day, when you have no idea about the weather in the mountain. We didn't see anything there.”
