Nice stay but not very family oriented
We stayed for a week at Crystal de luxe. It was a family vacation with two kids 6 and 7 yrs old. We booked this hotel mainly because of the positive ratings.
Positive things:
- food was great
- free hammam was nice
- family room was good for us since kids had their own "room within a room"
- water slides were a big hit with kids
Would like to improve:
- sometimes some of the service staff had a "i am just working here" attitude. However this was not consistent and some of the staff were genuinely helpful. But still I don't quite understand why this hotel gets so much positive feedback for the service. The level of service that we perceived was "okay", not failing to meet our expectations but not exceeding them either.
- it was a surprise that some of the staff (even in client facing functions such as guest relations or reception) did not really speak English.
- paid treatments in the hammam were not that good
Other notes:
- majority of the other guests seemed to be German or Russian speaking so the staff also seemed to speak those languages mostly.
- a lot of older guests (above 40 or 50) with no kids. This might be also because of the time of year.
Verdict:
- good location and nice premises. Staff english skills needs some polishing.
Would we go there again? Maybe.
