”Airport shuttle runs once an hour so we opted to take a taxi for $23usd, kind of steep but we preferred to get to the hotel faster than not. Check in was easy, staff was friendly, room was clean and very spacious- a great place to stay before or after airport.”

”The staff was very friendly and helpful. The area felt safe and we never felt otherwise during our stay. The building itself is a bit worn and has more of a hostel-style feel. While that may work well for some travelers, we were personally hoping for more of a bed-and-breakfast atmosphere”

”Perfect base for visiting the Poas Volcano and other sights in the area. From the hotel you can see the volcano so no guessing the weather and it's just a short ride to the national park. The hotel and rooms are modern and cozy, nice sofas with small fireplace to enjoy in the lobby area. Good restaurant.”

”Hotel El Guarco rooms were very clean & comfortable. Staff were very helpful & kind. The linens & towels were so white & had a lovely clean fragrance. The incuded breakfasts wre truly amazing & presentation was impeccable! We could walk to numerous other retaurants or fast food establishments for dinner meals. We were there for 6 days, & would have enjoyed a pool & lounges to enhance our stay. But we made lounges out of the benches on the balcony, by adding pillows to recline on. Also, since...

”Excellent proximity to airport but until 11pm there is plane noise. Starts again in the am but not super early. Convenient to major highways but traffic is a nightmare in San Jose. Allow hours to get out of the greater metro area”
