We had a pleasant stay at Los Lagos Hotel. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the beds were comfortable. However, the beds are placed on cement slabs, and I accidentally hit myself a couple of times—something to be mindful of.
The hot springs are definitely the highlight. There are so many pools, all with different styles and temperatures, that it literally took us two days to discover them all. It’s absolutely great for families of all ages.
The buffet was particularly good, with lots of delicious options. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, and the birds that visit during meals are just amazing to watch.
Unfortunately, it was cloudy during our entire 3-day stay, so we never got to see the Arenal Volcano. The rooms are spread throughout the property, so you need to use the shuttle to get to the main areas (boutique, restaurant, and pools). One of the older drivers was excellent—very polite, friendly, kind, and drove carefully, with quick service. However, the younger driver at night was disappointing: he drove too fast on narrow roads, took unnecessary detours, and we had to wait over 30 minutes each time we called for the shuttle.
Overall, a beautiful property with fantastic hot springs and food, though shuttle service consistency could be improved.
