This is Lanai’s most notable landmark and the setting for one of Hawaii’s epic legends.
Story goes a hottie princess from Maui was "captured" by a young warrior from Lanai. He made her his wife and he was so smitten with her beauty and... apparently so insecure that he was afraid to let other men see her so kept her in a sea cave near the rock when he was away. One day the weather suddenly changes, the surf slams the area, and... yup, one less princess. The warrior rushed back to the cave, but it was too late, he climbed the steep rock where he buried her in a tomb and then overcome with grief leapt to his death.

Moral of story might be... um, don't abduct women and lock them in caves.

”Beautiful view and good responsive management. When we arrived it was not cleaned but they were quick to respond and waived cleaning fee. The unit is spacious with beautiful ocean views but there was no AC and it has a bug problem and should be fumigated. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated the TV has no live steam option in family room but did have it in the bedrooms which was nice. "An older property that seems to have aged gracefully. We asked for a quiet room and were given one at the end of the hallway, and I think this was a lifesaver. There’s no noise cancellation of any kind and had we been closer to the elevators, it would have been impossible for js (admittedly rough sleepers) to sleep. But as it was, we slept great, listening to the sounds of the waves. The beach is great (much much better than some more expensive resorts), and having sunbeds on the grassy yard was cozy. "
