”They have the best location in town for those who want to visit the Lalibela churches on their own. The staff is friendly and they even sent their own driver to meet me at the airport (price the same as for a shared shuttle). The dinner and the breakfast were excellent.”

”It is a very beautiful and quiet place. The rooms are huge and very clean. Beautiful terrace. But the best of all, the staff, expecially the one of the restaurant. I went for Simien for three days and my mother, which doesn't speak English, stayed at the hotel. All the staff took care of her like family! Also the manager, Miracle, was awesome!! ”Hotelli oli viihtyisä ja siisti! Palvelu oli hyvää ja meidän erityistoiveet otettiin huomioon. Henkilökunta oli erittäin palvelualtista. Hotelli sijaitsi lähellä keskustaa (bazaazilla 5 min) ja kivikirkoille (päänähtävyys Lalibelassa) käveli oikoreittiä 10 minuuttia. Ravintolan ruoka oli perushyvää. Lista ei ollut mitenkään erityisen erikoinen, mutta ruoka oli hyvää ja palvelu ravintolassa oli erittäin hyvää!”

”I have traveled the world with my family, and HIGHLY recommend the Mayleko Lodge. I selected the lodge at random, and was glad I did. The service was incredible. The Hotel Manger paid personal visits to our room to ensure that we were doing well, and in one case noted we were late for breakfast, and offered to arrange room service so we would not miss our breakfast. The Hotel Manger also arranged sightseeing with a very knowledgeable local guide that my son and I very much enjoyed. The Food...

”The hotel's location was great, as it sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Gondar. It does make for quite a walk into the city itself. If you are not up for walking, there's usually a tuk tuk hanging out outside, or you can have the hotel call a taxi. It's convenient to eat at the hotel, especially during the fasting time, however their food was palatable but not the greatest. The staff was friendly though, and there's a great souvenir shop located outside of the hotel as well. Besides...

”I cannot praise this place enough. The room was big, clean, comfortable and a lot cheaper than some of the posher hotels further down the road which probably didn't offer much more. The staff couldn't do enough to help and the hotel not only looks good but it is ideally situated in the centre of town.”

”Fasil, the manager, sent the hotel shuttle to pick us up at the airport. The hotel was modern but with marble floors and high ceilings to keep it cool. It had a great restaurant especially for breakfast which was included. It had a terrace which was obviously a favorite gathering spot for locals as well as guests. Overall the service was great and the rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable.”

”This is my favorite spot in all of Ethiopia. It was my second stay at this hotel and proved to be as special as the first. The beds are comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for a shower. The view from the balcony is extraordinary with crows, eagles and hawks flying at by. The morning coffee was delicious and everyone was extremely accommodating and kind. I highly recommend.”

”I live in Addis and have been visiting Lalibela for many years - Lalibela is the first place I take my Ethiopia visitors. As such I have visited most of the <$50 hotels in Lalibela at one point or another. Many are lovely, but Asheton is unbelievable. Some of the rooms need a little maintenance - a loose door knob or a cover on the shower heaters. But all of the rooms have hot water, the rooms surround a silent thicket of plants including local spices (eg, tenadem), and there's a sweet little...

”Personally, I loved the simplicity and minimalism of the hotel. The uniqueness. The noises you can hear through the walls. (I need noise to fall asleep and I was there over Timket celebration) I call this luxury. Wifi. A bed (with shiny bedding). A shower and running water. Friendly staff. A TV that I never used. (Like who needs television when life itself is entertaining enough). Transfer currency to Birr, as that is the only currency accepted. It states Complimentary water and transportation....
